C Pedro Pages RFermin is a better bat vs LHP than Church, so I guess Ollie likes trading away defense for offense at an up the middle position. It seems surreal to observe that Walker may be the top defender in the outfield.
Herrera can’t put it in play and so fails to advance the runner to third with less than two outs. Sigh.
So this is how baseball works. You are facing a LHP who is death to left handed batters. You respond by loading up the lineup with righties. So in the first inning the only two left handed batters in your lineup come through to produce a run while all the right handed batters who come to the plate do nothing productive at all.
I can’t quite read the script on the right side of those handsome navy blue caps but I’m hoping it says, “2011 Game 5 NLDS Classic”…
Thanks jnevel. I would think they would let him work another inning especially with such a taxed pen.
A lot of innings have had to be covered by the pen this weekend. At least they have an off day tomorrow
Hi Bling. Wondering what you think of Jordan’s range at third?
Jordan’s range seems not too good. He also misses a makable play too much. He is more athletic than I had assumed, his arm is better than I assumed and his speed is better than I assumed. He looks pretty slick starting off double plays a lot of time. He is 23, which would be young for AAA and not too old for AA. I am OK with him there at 3B and see what happens over time. Its not our biggest problem by far. I would also be happy enough if someone good enough emerged to push him off.
Man, that throw from the track into second by Baez was weak and off line. Hopefully his arm is better than that. Hopefully hit hits better than .150 too.
I’d have thought he’d have been allowed to work through at least 5 in order to place him in line for his 11th W. Why in world was he limited to only 65 pitches? He’s worked as many as 102 this season and threw 90 pitches during his most recent turn.
Blaze is an unusual young hitter. He is trying not to strike out and doing a good job. He errs on the side of trying to put the bat on anything borderline even if off the plate or unhittable. He is refreshingly good at that, even though it results in a lot of weak contact. I feel like they can work with that far easier than trying to work with a guy who swings and misses a lot. I really dislike a batter who can’t foul one off when he has two strikes. Blaze is not that guy. But there is no telling how it will go.
If you were asking what I think about Mathews, I think he has a sore shoulder.
Yes. Also I didnt really want to say anything, but I think the pearl necklace is a little gauche.
As far as Fermin-When the dust settles I think he’s our U-guy.
