Weaver PUpdate: Carpenter is ill and not at the ballpark. No word if it is the dreaded “flu-like symptoms”. 😉
Chacin has hit four Cardinal batters, and almost got Weaver up near the head. Wonder if there will be any retaliation by Weaver in the next inning or two?
Tough game for Rich Hill tonight. No-hits the Pirates for 9 innings and gives up a walk-off home run to Harrison in the 10th. Takes the 1-0 loss.
Rats, do you really think Chacin was doing it on purpose? The Weaver up and in occurred on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded.
No, the up and in to Weaver was after Fowler scored on the WP so there was only two on. I doubt Chacin was doing it on purpose but jeepers, after your team gets plunked four times you need to send a message.
And I see now where Weaver hit Spangenberg…….

Bottom of the 8th, Cards up 5-1, bases loaded…helped in large part to Wong stealing both second and third and Pham stealing second…all with now 2 outs…

Top of the 9th and score is 6 to 2, guess Gyorko only pushed in 1 run…Pads challenged and Pham was ruled out at the plate. It was an easy overturn.
Greg Garcia has been on fire in the second half. There’s little doubt he will be with the team in 2018.
5th infielder next year will probably be a competition between
Garcia, Diaz, Mejia, and Valera.
The other IF bench competition may be between Voit and Wisdom.I don’t see separate competitions for infield reserve spots. Diaz and Garcia would be the favorites, IMO. Voit’s limitation remains the same – first base only. There could easily be 40-man shakeups affecting some of these players in the interim.
