If a baseball wagering whiz-kid would have placed his centavos across the entire board on the under for Monday’s games, he’d have collected on 11 of those 12 wagers once the finals were placed into the books. If this keeps up, Vito will insist that they lower the mound another 5 inches…

I happened to see that Gray’s piecing together a real nice season for the wrong team.

Maybe Jnevel was a day ahead of his time with the fresh arm idea in yesterday’s game thread.

Maybe Bling. I would think Stanek, Romero, and O’Brien would all be unavailable for today’s game and they would probably prefer to keep Soriano out too. That’s not a great recipe for winning. And even more treacherous on a Leahy day.

The problem is that none of those 4 who I mentioned can be optioned. Therefore, they are stuck with 4 relievers regardless of if they call someone up.

Currently the atmospheric conditions in the greater St. Louis area look fine. However, there is a band of showers heading towards the Kansas City area and should arrive there in the next couple of hours. Whether or not that pile of green stuff heads toward the St. Louis area is something we will just have to wait and see later this afternoon.

And din-din today will be a Subway Chicken Teriyaki sandwich with mayo, lettuce, onions, and a little mustard. Along with a piece of Angel Food cake and a bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream.

Whatever happened to long relief? It seems today’s philosophy – at least with the Cardinals – is burn through a reliever per inning and we’ll worry about tomorrow later.

Had an early supper of dumpling noodles with butter, garlic and Italian seasoning and parmesan with steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, oven bread and iced tea. Before the game starts I’ll have a couple of the half dozen Bavarian Bismark chocolate iced custard filled donuts that I bought fresh this morning. These things may be as addictive as a potent narcotic…All six of them will be annihilated by the time I go sleepy time-time and I’ll have to make another trip to the donut pusher in the morning.

Just looked it up and Winn’s a scratch due to a sore thumb on his glove hand.

The band of showers that I mentioned above has apparently dissipated. It looks to be all clear for tonight’s contest with Arizona.

However, there is another pile of wet stuff making it’s way into SW Missouri but I don’t expect it to be a factor later tonight.

Just got done finishing jogging. Time to hit the tub, light up a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar, watch the first couple of innings of the Brewers and Reds from Riverfront Stadium and then turn it over to watch the DBacks and Cards from Sportsman’s Park.

I expect plenty of cleat marks to be present on HP in virtually all of tonight’s Big League action. Yesterday saw 7 games settled by 1 run and 11 of the 12 games played were settled up with those covering the under collecting on their wagers. The boards ought to light up like the bats hit the proverbial jackpot in tonight’s action.

The crafty Venezuelan southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez could pose some serious problems for our boys. But I’m calling it 5-3 Cards anyway. You have to be thinking sweep in this series vs our wild card hopeful foes…….but I won’t lose any sleep if we take them down 3 games out of the 4.

TD takes the cake and Game Thread Din-Din of The Day honors with his evening spread. Well plated, TD!

And Rat weighs in again with a very delicious din-din and meteorological report second to none. It is my sincere hope that Brian is properly compensating Rat for his game day weather reports that not only cover our ballparks, but also the greater SW Indiana region. We all know that Rat utilizes Doppler radar, but what few realize is that Rat mingles in his own meteorological radar data with it to give us the most comprehensive accurate information on the planet. Maybe Doppler radar should go the way of the dinosaur to make way for the next big meteorological tool…….Ratler Radar.

Baez would look good in this righty lineup.

Same pitch pattern again and again and again to Walker.

So far, so good for Leahy. If he can make it all the way there 3rd inning that will be an improvement.

    I still enjoy Arenado’s defense.

Whenever I see a D-Back player standing in from the left side I think of Gonzalez. Luis could really hit and when both he and Grace played together in AZ. they formed one of the best left-handed hitting duos in recent history with over 5000 career hits collectively.

I know you all will be surprised. Gorman struck out swinging in his first Memphis at bat. It’s what he does.

Also, I know Wetherholt is way down the list on voting for second baseman in the All-Star game but I think I saw Pedro Pages ahead of him. Pages one game at 2B last season made a lasting impression. Poor JJ.

Edguardo misses location twice to Walker and it ends his no-hit bid.
