This Ben Brown has been pitching well for the Cubs. We will be fortunate to come away with a W in this one. Perhaps Burleson can barrel one up for a big dong. He was sure trying to do that during last night’s game. At least that’s what the Cub announcers said.

Herrera hasn’t been catching Leahy and with a righty going for the Flubs it seems like we will see Crooks. That will push Herrera and his bat to DH, so if Valesquez plays it will be manning a position. No idea what his glove/arm looks like.

His glove is not good Bling. He doesn’t move well. Ideally, he would only DH or pinch hit.

I would also expect Crooks to catch. My guess is Herrera continues to catch Pallante and McGreevey and then Crooks starts whenever there is a right handed pitcher on the mound for the opponent and one of Leahy, May, or Liberatore is pitching. Otherwise, Pages starts. That should work out to about a 40/40/20 split for our 3 catchers. Crooks may also get a few DH games when Herrera catches and it’s a right handed starter against us.

Velazquez will probably look like Ozuna out in LF but I sure do like having his bat in the lineup.

You may be aware that Marcell was awarded a GG in ’17 when he was a Marlin. It’s quite obvious to me that someone mistakenly presented him with the GG in place of the daisy and butterfly patterned oven mitt…Or they were simply drunk.

Everyone needs to pump the brakes on Velasquez. As I thought he’s not in the lineup tonight. We do like to crown em early around here. Lol

No brakes on this crate…I’m ecstatic about the addition of Velazquez and fully expect him to eclipse the legend of Manny Motter!

Din din here is Lady Bling’s split pea and ham soup and a baguette from Panera with some homemade apple butter which is just getting made and has the house smelling like a combination of apple pie and pumpkin pie.

Din-din tonight was a thick slice of beef filet seared with butter and sprinkled liberally with herbes de provence, homemade fries cooked in olive oil, and a crunchy green salad with tomato, onion and vinaigrette. Dessert was lemon cake with a scoop of Haagen-dazs vanilla ice cream. Yum. I think I’ll have another run at the cake and ice cream once the game gets underway.

Let’s hope tonight is drub-a-Cub night with plenty of redbird offense.

    Rah Cardinals!

I was crowning him back in March. He should have made the team.

Of course it wouldn’t shock me if they DFA him next week.

According to the Doppler Radar there is rain in the St. Louis area as I type this. It’s about an hour before first pitch. If the Doppler Radar is indeed accurate we might be in for a delay.

The Doppler Radar looks funny for tonight in and around St. Louis. Hard to tell whether this one will be delayed at some point. The green stuff seems to be here and there.

Guess time will tell. But the other Fox game, the Braves and Reds from Crosley Field, looks all clear for tonight.

Home tonight as I did not sign up to work tonight’s Rockies-Giants ballgame. Quite the game last night. Rox down 4-3 going into the ninth and five up two insurance runs to pretty much seal the deal, trailing 6-3 going to the bottom half. But hold on. A three run bomb ties it, and a two-run shot wins it!!

Din-din here is a vegetarian feast, as we are trying to get back to more of that. This one is “sweet potato Thai stew.” Basically sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, peppers, all kinds of spices with a cilantro and lime zest garnish. We are having it over rice.

Really has a kick to it so I am going to have a cold, frosty one to help temper the heat (spice type heat). 😄

Man, that first pitch to Gorman looked like a ball he could have hammered.

Following up on Gorman – with his tendency to strike out a lot, he needs to be aggressive early in counts if a pitch is in the zone. Be ready to jump on it rather than fall behind n the count right away.

Hard to know for sure but it looks like Swanson uses a small bat – like maybe a 32 inch.

Whoa, I didn’t know Leahy lived in Boulder, CO. Cool! I spent Monday up there doing the Bolder Boulder 10K along with my sister-in-law. Great event – great time! And great exercise.

Oops PCA is going to be safe on that play at second.

Is anyone else done with Nolan Gorman. Asleep on defense and can’t hit consistently. PCA is an ugly man by the way. He needs to always wear a hat.

Gorman has that raw power that is enticing, and he is a good glove on defense.

Needs to be better at pitch selection and focus on contact. The power is there so no need to unload on every pitch. You do wonder if he hasn’t gotten better by now if it will ever come together.

Leahy is so frustrating. He cruises and then blows up…this games over. Cards ain’t scoring off Brown

If you are talking about the play were Armstrong got 2nd that was his best bad option.

The way Leahy looked the last inning, he probably should have come out before the start of the 5th. I know you want more than 4 innings out of a starter but Leahy was hanging everything. Two hits and a run (and an out), he’s now out and Fernandez is in.
