ParticipantWell prob not gonna get to watch this one either due to practice. But i think ill record it just to see how maye pitches. I think the cardinals may sweep. But ypu never know. Our old pitchers tend to do well against us.
March 28, 2026 at 10:42 pm #303505I’m glad to see Matz taking a turn for the other guys.
March 29, 2026 at 7:59 am #303536I expect Matz to have a good year actually. I kept expecting it with the Cards as well so maybe I am foolish. Matz has a good arsenal and can perform very well in stretches. The Rays are a good team for him as they get the most out of pitchers and I wouldnt be surprised if he pitches like a #2 this year.

ParticipantI would expect matz to pitch well if they dont try to extend him. But our youngsters are on a roll so maybe that continues.

jj-cf-stlParticipantOur first vs lefty lineup this season and we carry a righty bench. Empty it, get em’ in.
March 29, 2026 at 10:10 am #303551Its lucky to start off vs a lesser team like the Rays. Everybody has looked pretty good so far and getting some confidence. The pen has some holes and we have yet to see the back end of our rotation, but so far, so good.

Participantbling….. 2 games in and the BP has some holes? Actually we knew that in Feb. 🙂
March 29, 2026 at 12:36 pm #303557FYI here,
Din-din today will be a ribeye steak in the air fryer, some tater tots in the oven, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, some Black Raspberry ice cream for dessert, and then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar. All of this whilst me and Whitey Herdog are on the couch watching the first couple of innings of the Reds and RedSox and then tuning over to the Redbirds game.

Me too, Dom! BTW has anyone heard from Pugs???
March 29, 2026 at 1:11 pm #303560It’s nice to see a couple of Redbirds awarded a nice trophy.
March 29, 2026 at 1:14 pm #303562Dodgers and Yankees are both 3-0 on the young season. The Dodgers may not lose a game and it’s my guess they’ll win their third consecutive championship.

jj-cf-stlParticipantPages went thru May’s pitches. Took a look at all of them.
March 29, 2026 at 1:38 pm #303566
stlcard25ParticipantMay is having a Matz like inning here.
March 29, 2026 at 1:41 pm #303567
jj-cf-stlParticipantPages tried to muscle him thru with mid to high 90s, didn’t work, they got 3. Finished the inning mixing in soft stuff.
March 29, 2026 at 1:47 pm #303568They are really killing May’s fastball early. Every hit has come off it. Mostly his sinker.
3rd inning May goes sweeper, sweeper, curve, change, sweeper to start.
March 29, 2026 at 1:51 pm #303570
jj-cf-stlParticipant5 pitches in the 80’s. Inning over.
They sit dead red.March 29, 2026 at 2:10 pm #303571
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe McG start yesterday is looking better and better.
March 29, 2026 at 2:10 pm #303572May continues to leave some pitches up and Tampa is getting every one of them. Now 5-1 Rays. This inning a couple hits off the slow stuff. May will be exiting early.
March 29, 2026 at 2:13 pm #303573Looks like we’re going to need another one of those eight-rn comeback innings.
March 29, 2026 at 2:13 pm #303574
jj-cf-stlParticipantNot a fan of Pages sequencing today.

ParticipantDef doesnt seem like a good day for maye. Maybe next time.
March 29, 2026 at 2:26 pm #303576I am so perplexed. Walker looked lost throughout all of Spring Training until the final week or so. Then all the sudden he’s only swinging at strikes and is on everything hitting it hard. This is more like the Walker who came up through the minors except he’s getting the ball in the air more often and swinging and missing a bit less. I sure hope this continues. I know we all do.
6-4 Rays now after a Walker 3-run homer to left center. Bruhil in.
Memphis tied 5-5 late. Pretty good outing by Mautz today.
March 29, 2026 at 2:30 pm #303577I’m not a Bruhil fan by the way. He’s got a bit of funky movement and he has solid experience but he just nibbles too much and seems to have a high WHIP. I hope he gets replaced by Packy in the next month.
