I wonder if our brilliant manager will have Pozo batting 5th in the lineup again for this game. I mean, jeepers, he hit a homerun on Saturday so all of a sudden he should be hitting 5th?????

That reminds me of Tyler Greene. Posters on here used to talk about how valuable he was. He was a career .220 hitter. But, yes indeed, he did hit a double one night.

There weren’t many good options really.

Herrera is hurt, Arenado was hurt. I guess he could have hit Saggese or Gorman or Pages or Scott or Noot in the 5th hole if they are better choices.

Burly as the cleanup batter during Saturdays game, has a .211 BA for his career vs lefties (we faced a lefty Boyd Saturday), and currently has vaulted his 2025 BA up to .218 vs southpaws, how you like them apples at cleanup Rats?

Pozo is a career .353 BA vs lefties, with a 2025 vs LH of .346 BA.

Anyway, baseball has the thing called “splits”, because some guys throw with their right arm, and some with their left arm. So baseball splits them, to view the outcomes individually, because it matters to baseball.

Definitely rough pickings for the lineup card right now.

Yeah, Nado, Herrera and Walker all being skint-up at once makes you think that the right side is the wrong side…I’m also wondering whatever happened to Luckenback?

The fact that the Astros have recently jumped out to a 7 game lead in the ALC has me wondering if Nado wishes he would have looked past his NTC and took the bus ride down to Houston. I also noticed that Dodger 3B’man Muncy is expected to miss several weeks with a bad tie rod end, but it may be silly to think that the Dodgers would be looking to replace a lame horse with a lame horse…Haha!

I categorize most of these lineup decisions by Oli as him making the worst choice possible, except for most of the other options he had available. So don’t be too hard on Oli because he was the best option available for Mo to put in the managerial seat, unless you count a host of other options Mo might’ve pursued.

The deck chairs are horribly tattered. Maybe a fresh new look would help rev up the buzz. Something that pops. Say, red and white checkered caps. Red and white barber pole pattern stirrup socks. It would be a big hit. Imagine the coverage.

Haha!…Those snazzy Red and white checkered caps aren’t slated to be unveiled until after the team sets up shop in Little Rock…

Just a random thought, but while looking at some baseball stuff I was reminded that for one season in ’94, each of the 4 divisions in the Big Leagues contained 7 teams. I was also reminded that both the ALE and the ALW contained 7 teams going all the way back to the ’77 season. At any rate, I’d have to say that a division that contains 7 teams is a difficult division to win and not at all a whole lot different than the days before ’61 when there were 8 Big League teams in both the NL and AL. Pretty soon, they’ll go to 4 teams to a division and these players will pretty much be afforded an opportunity to play in the post-season at some point by simply showing up for work and lacing up a pair of cleats…Poor Ernie Banks.

Mozeliak earlier on had three pretty good trade chips in Arenado, Fedde and Walker. None of these three fit into future plans. Now he’ll need to trade someone of value to improve the team for next season. Our present needs are a RH OF with some pop and a pitcher that may be slated for next season rather than for ’25. I mentioned Walker because as a DH at Memphis he’s batting .111 with numerous Ks. Maybe they should switch his rehab to Springfield.

I notice Walker but not Gorman is in Nyquist’s not in future plans list. I see them as equally precarious. We don’t have any right swinging outfielders and we don’t have any left side infielders besides Winn. So we are likely to continue seeing plenty of nauseating PAs from both going forward.

NyquisT – Walker was actually moved to AA for rehab last week. In 4 games he’s 2 for 18 with 2 doubles and 9 strikeouts.

For no single particular reason I’d have to say that the Nationals are my least favorite baseball team ever during my entire time as a baseball fan. I’ve never at all despised them like I have certain teams that have been bitter rivals of the Cardinals. I’ve just always found them to be incredibly boring and mundane. I don’t like the area of which they reperesent, and I don’t think they have what could be termed a legitimate fan base. I kind of liked the Expos along with their colorful uniforms before the DC area claimed them out of Montreal and adopted a uniform with a cap that indicted that the team was sponsored by the Walgreen’s drugstore chain. At times I even get the sense that they’re imposters and not really a legitimate Big League team…In any case, there’s no one particular reason that I don’t like them. I just wish they’d go away. Maybe someday they’ll move to Hartford or Wheeling.

I don’t think I’ll ever care too much for the current Cardinal manager, but to be fair, he currently doesn’t have much at all to place into the order of battle. I’d say a mule skinner has more horses than he does.

Anybody here old enuff to remember the ’66 Allstar game? I remember that day as it was the hottest (101) and of course humid as hell. They had to order in dry ice lay on the color tv cameras!

I was in the add-on room of the house sweltering like a wet dog tuning in on KMOX when I has an idea. Our barber had A.C.in his shop! I sneaked out the house and went over and listened with a room full of geezers.

It was like a grand opening for Busch 2 and was the biggest crowd in Missouri sports history.

The 1st nine innings were awfully dull. All I remember is the 10th inning: McCarver leading off with a hit an Maury Wills driving him in.

Mr. Kane the barber, orriginally from Brooklyn hollered “the Cardinals and the Dodgers won it”

Burly is the RF’r. He benched Walker before his IL. Those two players seperated themselves. Walker has all the runway he needs, right where he’s at.

3B and catcher, both RHB’s, need upgraded offensively. Who wants Herrera catching Pages workload? So the upgrade at catcher likely comes from the farm.

If Herrera is the primary DH, Burly is in RF. Gorman and Walker as bench bats and trade bait.

How was Arenado a good trade chip? He blocked the few teams that they tried to trade him to. Walker is not a trade chip either.

I’ll certainly give you Fedde, but there may not have been a taker. Same with Helsley.

Walker should be putting up Wetherholt numbers in AA and isn’t. That’s telling imo.

I remember it as being a big event to help to jump start the new Busch Memorial Stadium.
