Returning home after Monday’s day off…

FanDuel // KMOX // WIJRI ran across an interesting tidbit today even though it has nothing to do with the Cardinals.
As of 2:35pm on 6-2-25 the 2025 Rockies have won fewer games than the 2024 Broncos did. Ouch!
Just wondering if MLB can intervene and do anything about the woeful Rockies?
Can MLB tolerate a team going 30-132???
Can they tolerate 30-132? At the current rate they’ll be fortunate to win 20 games. It’s a veritable bloodbath and to allow the carnage to continue can only be termed inhumane.
And COL wins at MIA to break an 8 game losing streak. I’m not too interested in either of the 2 aforementioned teams, but I think it’s a legitimate news item when a Big League team has managed only 10 W’s by the second day of June. Incidentally, the attendance for that Rockies/Marlins game was a shade under 6K and I’m genuinely astounded that they sold that many tickets. It’s not at all unlike paying a pricey cover charge to see live exotic dancing performed by Rosie O’Donnell and her ugly sister…In any case, the Rockies are 40 games under .500 on June 2nd and I have to believe that has to be some sort of record that’s kept buried deep in the futility file.
Colorado wins a game!
They win at Miami tonight (Monday) by the score of 6-4.
They might win 31 games this year.
And Milwaukee won their 8th straight game.
They beat the Reds at Crosley Field 3-2.
And in true Rockie fashion they will probably be buyers or stand pat at the deadline. Their ownership and front office are clueless. Surprisingly they still draw pretty decent attendance averaging 27k per game.
Yeah great fans in Colorado, Scotty. My mother, whom resides in beautiful Colorado Springs, makes the trek north to take in several games every year. And of course our very own BicycleMike tickles the turnstiles with some sort of regularity I would imagine.
I think Scott is going to find the cheap seats with bat in hand this evening…..let’s hope it’s enough to stave off defeat. And what’s for din-din one may ask? Breakfast for din-din tonight is on tap for me. 3 poached eggs over two pieces of white toast with butter drizzled over, beef sausage links, hash browns, Dutch apple pie and Crockett coffee to wash her all down the hatch.
Alas, I’ll not be watching this game. Much too late. I’ll be happily counting moutons when the first pitch is hurled. If my research tomorrow morning reveals a Cardinal win I’ll probably go to MLB replay. If we have lost I’ll probably be grumpy for a few hours and get on Madame CiF’s nerves.
Nonetheless, madame et moi, along with visiting daughter and two grands, enjoyed a din din of good ol’ Texas chili with chunks of cornbread slathered with butter and while the cholesterol raced through my veins in a mad dash to my heart we each downed a slice of apple pie topped with a considerable glop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream.

Din din here today was a trip to the Snitzlebank, the German restaurant down in Jasper. A ground sirloin, german fries, green beans, and a coke were on the menu. Nothing for dessert yes. In honor of CIF I might wait till my Mt. Dew gets ice cold and slushy and then have it along with a chocolate shake.
Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for the Brewers/Reds game from Riverfront Stadium tonight. Along with a few cigars tonight. Then we will switch over to the Royals/Redbirds game from Sportsmans Park. Then later tonight it will either be the Mets/Doyers or Padres/Giants. Both were excellent games last night. Both of the home teams lost by one run in 10 innings.

Walker’s stint on the IL places Gorman at DH which could be a genuine problem. And although there was no way he was going to maintain the scorching bat that he displayed in his first 17 games of ’25, Herrera’s cooled off at 5 for 33 in his last 10 games. Ivan’s collected 5 RBI’s in those 10 games, so he’s still managing to generate some offensive production. He may have a difficult time behind HP if Witt reaches base which I’d say is highly probable.
Herrera won’t even hit .300 on the year.

Then those analytic idiots will talk about how valuable he was. And how much production he gave St. Louis.
I keep telling everyone – nobody on this team can hit. Wait until later in the year when we are well under .500. Maybe then some people might begin to understand the game itself.
In ’24 Herrera collected 27 RBI’s in 229 AB’s. This season he’s collected 26 RBI’s in 90 AB’s…Haha! In any event, the back of Ivan’s card tells me he’s a .299 career hitter. That’s all I can go by.
Right on, TD. There’s a “Herr” in “Herrera”, so Ivan will get his fair share of RBI before it’s all said and done this year. He most likely won’t eclipse 100 like Tommy did, but barring injury, he’ll get 100 next year. Rat is not often wrong, but he has veered way off base in his Herrera assessment. Love those Rat and Cardinal in France din-dins! Any others?

Rat, re raccoons: Did you try one on the grill? They’re not bad. A little stringy but flavorful. Similar in taste to opossum or dog.

We should be able to tee-off on Lorenzen tonight……I’m thinking at least 2 taters against him. And if KC were to stick a bat in Lorenzen’s hands, he could do a bit of teeing-off himself, as the guy can hit.

Way too many unoccupied seats for a game such as this. Surprised too at how many vacant primo seats there are.
Rats, have you actually watched Herrera play? He does a really good job of hitting the ball to all fields and makes solid contact. Whether you like analytics or the eye test, both show Herrera is a natural hitter and will run fairly good batting averages. I would expect him to be .270-.280 for most seasons
Andre threw 3 deathballs and bounced two. He needs a offspeed pitch he can turn to for strikes, if he can’t command the knuckle-curve.
