Sure would be nice to come away with a win in this one. We are going to have to face DeGrom in Texas on Sunday and he’s been pitching well. That will be a tough weekend series. Then we come home to face the Royals, Doyers, and BlueJays. No rest for the wicked.

It’s been a heck of a schedule lately for sure. The Cubs have gotten the exact opposite and are taking advantage.

It’s been a nice season so far. I’m looking forward to game time with an expectation to compete well against these better teams. If we can keep it up until we play the Cubs-that will be good fun.

Glad this is a night game on getaway day. Don’t like those weekday afternoon games. This way I can go to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant, and eat my late lunch and have a cigar out on the bench in front and then go home and catch the game.

Now let’s see. What’s on the din-din menu today? Probably fried chicken, fish, mashed potatoes/gravy, noodles, dressing, green beans, maybe sweet potatoes, maybe baked carrotts, sweet iced tea, cherry or blackberry cobbler, and some soft serve vanilla ice cream.

Mikolas is going to get hit hard in this one. Camden Yards won’t be kind to him.

This has all the makings of a 9-1 game. You can pretty much bank on it – almost.

We have 2 steaks left over from Memorial Day and it’s steak fajitas tonight. What puts them over the top are the fresh warm cast iron fried totilla’s! I can eat them w/just butter. Great taste.

The Cardinals get a second attempt to realize a season high water mark of 8 games above sea level tonight. During the last season in which they qualified for post-season play the team first attained 8 games over even on June 1st of ’22. On that day they were 2 games off the pace in the NLC and didn’t really hit a gear that allowed them to hook up some traction and take off to separate themselves from the rest of the division until the final day of July.

The Lovely Lady Bike is cooking up some pasta, so it looks like some sort of Italiano fare for us this evening. I imagine a big tossed salad will accompany it. She quit drinking wine a few months back, so water will be the beverage. It’s on the cool side out here in the RMW, so a cold, frosty one is not sounding all that great. Better in hot weather for those.

No idea what to think about tonight’s game. I see Mikolas starting and always think, “Here comes a loss”, but he has pitched better of late. Keep thinking it won’t last – guess that is the pessimist in me, or maybe the realist. Time will tell.

He’s Jake Westbrook with a cookie duster. When Westbrook took his turn I’d just try to look on the sunny side and convince myself that at least he’d go out there and scuffle in an attempt to give his team a chance. That’s all I really hope for when Miles takes a turn.

Cards and Orioles are in a rain delay from Memorial Stadium. ETA for first pitch is about 7:05 est.

    Stay tuned…….

How come we weren’t forewarned about a possible weather delay? What’s showing up on the Doppler? For that matter, what the heck is a Doppler? Sounds like a cheap base hit into shallow RCF…

A doppler is a fishing lure, similar to a silver spoon, good for northern pike.

I was busy having din-din at the Amish restaurant. Then had a cigar out front on the bench in the porch area. Then a buddy or two stopped as they were leaving and entering the restaurant and I had to shoot the breeze. Then I flopped down on the bed with Whitey Herdog when I got home. I got up in time for the first pitch and then saw it was in a delay.

The good news is, however, according to the Doppler Radar the green stuff has moved on out of the Baltimore area. Should be good to go the rest of the evening.

And no police showed up today regarding the Great Gravel Heist #2.

Yeah what’s up with that, Rat? The Doppler King let us down today. Some very nice din-dins tonight gentlemen. Just finished my din-din…….2 KFC breasts(the dog got the skins), cole slaw, mashed potatoes with gravy and I stepped it up one at the drive-thru lane at Popeye’s and ordered 4 apple cinnamon pies. Just getting ready to gulp those down. I think I’ll put all 4 in a big bowl and put large slabs of Breyers vanilla bean ice cream over them. Remember the old Lay’s potato chip commercial campaign where the theme was “you can’t eat just one Lay’s potato chip”? Well, the same can be said about Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies…….it’s totally impossible to eat just one. Let’s hope we get this one in tonight.

A fishing lure, ehh? It sounds a little like, “And he saws him off, but there’s a little doppler into short RF that falls into no man’s land and 2 runs are gonna score…Holy Cow, we can’t catch a break!”

Well, that wasn’t too bad. We got action already.

Careful with that fourth cinnamon pie Pugs, it’s liable to incite the appearance of jiggly stuff over the belt buckle.

Hopefully we do better than one hit this time thru the order. Hello righty bats!

This 25 year old lefty displays career numbers that are far short of impressive, so it makes perfect sense that we only have one hit. In any event, if Mikolas can keep it at a 3 or even 4 run deficit, I think the Cardinals will win this game.

It’s only water. I drank some one time and it didn’t hurt me.

I really thought that matchup with Nado facing the lefty was going to work out good, but he popped him up.
