Also BS Southeast and Southwest ExtraJune 12, 2024 at 12:27 pm #255971Din-din today will be the weekly trip to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant. Fried chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, noodles, sweet potatoes?, dressing, sweet iced tea, cherry cobbler, and some vanilla soft serve ice cream for dessert. Then a cigar out on the porch afterwards.
We’ve got to face a lefty tonight. Carlson will be in CF. This team is starting to flounder again. Sometimes I think the only hope for this team is another 17 game winning streak that got us into the wild card game back in 2021.

Maybe the manager would get fired afterwards again!
June 12, 2024 at 3:19 pm #255994I still think it’s amusing that with a W in tonight’s game the Cardinals can not only hoist themselves out of last place, but also take over a post-season berth. Must be another one of those modern world miracles.

Good.
Get him off his feet.

jj-cf-stlParticipantNo need if you can walk on water like Burly!
June 12, 2024 at 4:26 pm #256000Gorman still striking out 33% of the time.
Just sayin…….
June 12, 2024 at 5:35 pm #256002Gorman is a guy I really like though. As he matures he should make more consistent contact, and his power is something else.
But I touted O’Neill for several years as a future MVP and he would show flashes, then regress, then get hurt. So we will see on NG.
Din-din here is homemade individual pizzas me and Lady Bike will put together, and a big tossed salad. That’s it – simple and tasty.
June 12, 2024 at 5:51 pm #256005Leading the team in home runs (more than Arenado and Goldschmidt combined) and RBIs makes up for a lot of sins. Gorman is second on the team in strike outs, behind Goldy.

Looked like a catchable ball, but Helsley was the prime goat in last night’s game. Had Helsley been his usual self we would have taken a 1-0 thriller on Gorman’s jack, all else equal.

jj-cf-stlParticipantFalter has a season game score of 54. He has 4 of his 12 starts in the 70’s. Our SP’s have 6 (all). His last start was a forgettable 30. His handedness splits are close to neutral this season.
June 12, 2024 at 6:39 pm #256009I’m entirely aware that Burleson’s not the best mitt you can place in the OF, but I don’t think you can lay much fault on him for not running down that slicing line drive hit by Gonzalez for a double in the 8th which didn’t result in any Pirate runs. That was a tough chance, but Clemente may have had it…

jj-cf-stlParticipantBurly has raised his D floor for me. He and Donny about the same on corner outfield D?
June 12, 2024 at 6:45 pm #256011Speaking of mitts, I’ve been missing Scott Rolen lately, but Arenado reminded me last night why he’s been awarded 10 GG’s at 3B. He completed two spectacular plays over on the left corner of the IF last night.
June 12, 2024 at 6:49 pm #256012Anyone besides me like Andrew McCutchen? Solid player class individual.
June 12, 2024 at 6:50 pm #256013
jj-cf-stlParticipantI’ve always liked Cutch best at leadoff.
June 12, 2024 at 6:51 pm #256014Burly has mostly looked good on defense. Not great range, but he has a good arm and handles the defensive aspect pretty well.
Yeah, Nado looked like I remember him from his days out here in the Wild West. He was almost a nightly highlight reel when wearing the purple. Plus he has the best approach at the plate of anyone I can recall. Always balanced and head right down on the ball. Wish he could teach Jordan Walker that approach.
June 12, 2024 at 6:51 pm #256015I would love to talk them out of Bryan Reynolds.
June 12, 2024 at 6:56 pm #256016Yeah, it’s hard to believe he’s been around for 16 seasons. He’s been an excellent player in all areas of the game, but I’ll always maintain that the NL MVP that he was awarded in ’13 should have gone to Paul Goldschmidt. If you look at numbers from that season, Goldschmidt clearly deserved the award.
June 12, 2024 at 6:56 pm #256018
jj-cf-stlParticipantGray can K himself outta jambs.
June 12, 2024 at 7:05 pm #256021I know I don’t have any friends around here on this one-but we gotta get Goldy out of those mob positions. Nothing personal. I love the guy.
June 12, 2024 at 7:08 pm #256023
jj-cf-stlParticipantAdding a righty bat like Willson will help.
June 12, 2024 at 7:14 pm #256025Lots of empty seats at the old ball yard.
June 12, 2024 at 7:17 pm #256026Yeah, Goldy has more Ks than Gorman which seems impossible. I am glad I don’t have to see him struggling like that. I wish he would be moved down in the order where his struggle could be less visible.
