RHP Andre Pallante (1-2, 6.16) vs. LHP Ty Blach (2-3, 4.54)
BSM // KMOX // WIJR
Also BS South and Southwest ExtraJune 8, 2024 at 6:05 pm #255578Why can’t this team win? Lost two of three at home against a team as bad as the Rockies.
Why can’t this team win???
What is wrong with them?
I know the poor performances of Goldschmidt and Arenado are two of the big reasons they have a losing record again this year. But it’s not all their fault.
I just don’t understand why this team can’t win……..
June 8, 2024 at 10:29 pm #255616Rat I would say it is:
An extremely underperforming offense.
Starters who rarely go more than 5 innings.
A bullpen who has little depth and is getting worn out.
Shaky defense and base running.
Probably the worst bench in the league.
A very mediocre manager and field staff.
A front office who can’t get hardly anything right.
A farm system who doesn’t appear to be sending anyone of value to STL in the next year or so.Other than all of that things look great.

June 9, 2024 at 5:14 am #255620Can’t anybody here play this game?
June 9, 2024 at 8:14 am #255632Based on track record, the Cardinals offense will probably make today’s starter look like “Ty” Young…
June 9, 2024 at 8:55 am #255637With a lefty in the mound, I expect our woes to continue.
June 9, 2024 at 9:32 am #255640I think we all can agree that the Cardinals are neither a good team nor a bad team. They are the definition of average. They will have their little winning streaks and their little losing streaks. They do not have enough talent to win 90 games but they do have enough to not lose 90.
I don’t like the make up of any part of the team including it’s farm and player development systems. Nothing is completely failing but nothing is outstanding in any way.
There is no clear path to sorting them out and I don’t recognize any long term plan being implemented by the organization. It appears to be nothing more than year to year reactionary measures that attempt bandaid fixes of the most glaring shortcomings of the year before.
Perhaps I simply cannot see the forest for the trees but….
June 9, 2024 at 9:35 am #255642I hope the offense is ready to score 7-9 runs today to cover Pallante.
Splitting a home series against the Rockies is bad enough – losing the series should really get a head rolled but we all know that it won’t.
June 9, 2024 at 11:32 am #255657We will see how average they look at the AS break, and at the deadline.

CF Mike Siani LJune 9, 2024 at 11:55 am #255660Tyson “The Preacher” Michael Blach. The crafty 33 year old southpaw, born and raised in Denver, spun a dandy two starts back vs Cleveland’s Indians. Well, he’s not going to duplicate that feat today. If we were to go down in defeat today, that would put this year’s home record vs two of baseball’s worst teams(ChiSox & Colorado) at an abysmal 2-5. But I just do not see this happening, as our hitters can handle Blach’s offerings. Now unlike Friday night, do NOT go out and bet the ranch and all of it’s animal inhabitants on St. Louis winning. But you can feel very comfortable in wagering 20-30 prime grade A cattle on the Redbirds prevailing. Let’s call it 6-4 Cards shall we.
And what’s for din-din one may ask? Not really sure, as I’m up in the Wisconsin Dells at the Kalahari resort all day attending a swimming party for my 8 year old granddaughter’s girl scout group. I’m hoping to get out of here by 4pm today so that I can go to my favorite restaurant up her in the Dells called “The Dell Bar”. After my stepmother passed away, my father ate there at least 4 times a week……for good reason.
June 9, 2024 at 12:14 pm #255663Yesterday I picked up some jack salmon, which are Whiting fiddlers. Not catfish, but the best I could do. Also picked up Andy’s Fish coating and a tub of beef tallow.
June 9, 2024 at 12:52 pm #255671Clearly, Oli doesn’t trust “Burly” in the field today.
June 9, 2024 at 1:12 pm #255676BOCfan, do you still feel Burleson should be at Memphis? You sure seem to dwell on Burleson for some reason.
June 9, 2024 at 1:13 pm #255677I did my low carb diet for 30 days and lost 7 pounds but the stress got to me so I am back to eating “regular”. Truthfully most of the stress was due to following this miserable team.
Today was an italian sub sandwich, zesty flavored chips, and a diet mountain dew. I feel better already.
June 9, 2024 at 1:19 pm #255678In surprised Colorado called up 21 year old Amador. He has not played well in AA with a below .200 average, but he has been hitting over .300 lately. He is supposed to have a really good hit tool (70 grade) though
June 9, 2024 at 1:23 pm #255680Colorado has a good SS and CF with Amador at 2B being rated along with Winn prospect wise. Chase Dollander is their only decent SP prospect. Some good up the middle players but still not much for a core and they likely have plenty of more losing seasons in front of them. At least our org doesn’t look as bad as theirs.
June 9, 2024 at 1:37 pm #255682I don’t think I have ever seen a pitcher spike more pitches 5+ feet in front of home than Pallante. Maybe death ball meant death to the dirt

jj-cf-stlParticipantDylan staying productive since his Game Ball on Friday.
June 9, 2024 at 1:43 pm #255684Carlson with a 2 bagger. I like this lineup much better with Carlson in RF, Siani in CF, and Burly at DH. Much better defense and gets Carlson some time. Whether Stl thinks he is a part of their long term plans or not, he needs to play every day to get reps and maybe build some trade value. If he doesn’t succeed, oh well we aren’t a serious playoff contender this year.
June 9, 2024 at 1:44 pm #255685I commented a few games back how he looked like he was taking better swings. Hopefully this continues. We can really use some outfield production.
June 9, 2024 at 1:44 pm #255686Pages did his job
June 9, 2024 at 1:45 pm #255687The Cardinals turned 3 double plays yesterday and were also aided by COL handing them 4 unearned runs and still couldn’t put a W on the board. Pallante got what he needed last inning with the ground ball for the easy 6-3.

jj-cf-stlParticipantOppo is key to Sinai’s development. Keep repeating that type of AB.
