Din din today will be a center cut rib chop, some mashed potatoes and gravy, a couple ears of corn, Mt. Dew, and a piece of strawberry cream cake for dessert. All of this starts about the time of the 1st pitch. Whitey Herdog will be on the couch with me, along with a couple of cigars during the game.
I am going out on a limb and predict that Nolan Arenado gets off the schneid with a ringing dong to left in this one. I’m calling it 5-3 Redbirds.
Then later tonight it’s the NCAA tournament games. Along with more cigars.

I thought the season would NEVER start. My Bulls and Big Red Cardinals are in serious suck mode. It’s been brutal for me ever since Shildt benched the whole damn team after we got that 17th straight win streak snapped two years back

We got a little glimpse of Burleson in Sept. of last season, LeGrand. Not enough looks for me to tell either way. Walker’s supposed to lead us to promised land and a parade at some point. ST’ing games were the first I’d seen of him and he looked pretty good, but those don’t count. We’ll see what happens.
Burleson was the AAA league batting champion which I am told by a reliable source does not correlate to MLB success. Walker did very well in AA, which correlates better somehow. Hopefully they will both be bashers.

#STLCards outfielder Lars Nootbaar is dealing with a jammed left thumb and is unavailable today.
Nootbaar hurt his thumb sliding into third base in Thursday’s opener. He is considered day to day, manager Oli Marmol said.

The Cards feel that Burleson will do better vs. the hop on Gausman’s fastball.

Gallegos is unavailable to pitch today vs. the #BlueJays, but the club is hopeful that he will be available on Sunday and won’t need an IL stint.

It’s windy and a little chilly here too, Rats. Around 50 degrees. Supposed to be nice on Sunday, close to 70 degrees.
I didn’t get to watch much of opening day with work and kids activities, but I’m all in today and back to being here more often. I was never a Dan hater, but never loved him either. I have always been a fan of Chip and have the game on now and enjoying him already, but guess I have yet another year of O’Neill.

Yeah, Caray’s a seasoned Pro, Cards667. They could have done a lot worse than him. I liked McLaughlin okay, but he could be a bit over the top sometimes. At any rate, Caray’s a first rate PBP guy, but I don’t think we’ll be hearing him sing his own rendition of his grandad’s “The Cardinals are coming, tra la, la la” anytime soon…Haha!
Good to see Flaherty is on track for another sub-4-inning start. You can never get enough pen follies. What is that funny looking squat he does when he comes set? That’s new, right, or have I just been blind to it previously?
