I will start off the discussion with the NL Manager of the Year.
Don Mattingly may be NL Manager of the Year and it would be deserved. After all, the Marlins lost 105 games in 2019. Both his & Mike Shildt's teams made the playoffs despite COVID outbreaks. But the #stlcards would have made the 2020 NL post-season even without three extra teams.

Kim should get a few votes but ultimately probably won’t get many. I haven’t seen his name come up in any national writer article yet despite his good stats.

Are there requirements for qualification regarding innings played and such?
Cause I’d think that Goldy, Wong, Dejong, O’Neill, Bader and Yadi could all be candidates if O’Neill and Bader are eligible.
I am not aware of 2020 qualifications, but last year, five of the six names you mentioned were top three finishers. O’Neill was not and Flaherty was. Wong was the only winner.
Yeah, O’Neill wasn’t that good last year. This year he led all LFers in DRS, UZR and Statcast OAA. He had a great year with the glove.

Apparently, the cutoff for inclusion was 50 innings pitched or 265 innings in the field.
I thought some posters said Bader would be a shoo in for at least finalist, if not the winner. Some have referred to him as the best defensive CFer in MLB.
Never miss a shot to take a swipe at those players not among your favorites.
Suppose the fact that Bader only started 36 games had anything to do with it? Trying to see if he reached the 265-inning minimum, though he probably did.

The metrics didn’t like Bader as much this year. My guess is that the errors he made were considered costly (I recall the one where he simply botched a ball at the wall and it cost the Cards runs). When you’re only playing 300ish innings, that can make a big difference. Even Statcast only had him at 4 outs above average (the tops was 7) and that was the best showing he had.

Remember that there are five metrics that make up the SDI. And that is just 25% of the decision. The managers and coaches still have 75% power – and I question whether they give advanced metrics too much attention.
One thing that may be in O’Neill’s favor is that Akayama is also new, but Peralta has good history and that seems to matter. Specifically, Peralta was no. 1 in SDI last year in LF and won the GG. Passing up the incumbent and winning the first time is always hardest. It certainly was for Wong, for example. And it may even be more difficult to emerge in such a short season.
BW, Peralta won last year. I do think that the SDI is going to tilt very heavily in O’Neill’s favor. Do those voting have access to that information? I still don’t get how you weight an index 25% against a combo of player and coaches voting. But I will wait it out. It could well be that Wong is the only winner again. But O’Neill is very deserving.
