1:20 p.m.
RHP Jack Flaherty (1-0, 2.57) vs. RHP Alec Mills (2-1, 2.84)
FS Midwest // ESPN + // KMOXAugust 19, 2020 at 8:31 am #135811We really need to win at least one of these games today, if not both.
Our focus should be on getting healthy, getting in the playoffs, and making a run in October. Let the Cubs have their fun right now. Wouldn’t it be nice if we knocked them out of the playoffs in October?

stlcard25ParticipantIt’s finally time for Flaherty again. 11 games between starts, even with a long COVID break? Hopefully Jack is sharp. I agree with gscottar that we need a win, and probably two, today. The Cubs have managed to avoid getting their soft underbelly (the pen) exposed this whole series.
I also hope that Carlson sits at least one game. He’s got a lot on his shoulders and hasn’t performed yet. Lots of missed opportunities.
August 19, 2020 at 10:33 am #135842Tyler O’Neill is good to go for today. Was a late scratch last night with a finger issue. #STLCards

August 19, 2020 at 11:55 am #135856Gomber activated….Oviedo on the way…..lineup posted
#stlcards activate Gomber for Game 1, so he can be used in relief, if needed. If not, sets him up to start Game 2. They're also prepared with an alternative option — as Oviedo makes his way to Chicago: https://t.co/6Cz3CQucbs #Cardinals @stltoday #MLB

stlcard25ParticipantLooks like all hands on deck this year. Makes things more interesting since we don’t get any news from Springfield.
August 19, 2020 at 12:33 pm #135864I’m surprised, but happy they added Oviedo.
August 19, 2020 at 1:25 pm #135869
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards have a little bit of a thing going in the first. 1st and 3rd with none out for Goldy. Need a couple of runs.
August 19, 2020 at 1:29 pm #135870
stlcard25ParticipantBases loaded for Carp. This is one spot that he traditionally is amazing in.
August 19, 2020 at 1:32 pm #135871
stlcard25ParticipantGrand slam Carp!!!
August 19, 2020 at 1:33 pm #135872SLAM!!!!
August 19, 2020 at 1:36 pm #135874You have to give Shildt credit with the lineup construction today. Carp profiles as a pretty good number four hitter at this stage in his career. He is probably not going to hit for a high everage any longer but he still has power and can be a good rbi guy.
August 19, 2020 at 1:38 pm #135875Surely we now have enough runs for Flaherty? Right? I guess it depends how many innings he can go and if the wind is blowing out.
August 19, 2020 at 1:44 pm #135878Uh oh. Maybe the wind is blowing out. Is this going to be one of those 10-8 games?
August 19, 2020 at 1:46 pm #135879
stlcard25ParticipantJack gives up a homer to right and a rocket that Carlson catches. We need to get 5-6 innings from him. He settles in with a K of Baez.
August 19, 2020 at 1:55 pm #135882
stlcard25ParticipantWatching Schwarber play the field is about like watching Ozuna last year.
August 19, 2020 at 1:58 pm #135886
stlcard25ParticipantA double by Wong and a single by Edman…5-1 Cards.
August 19, 2020 at 2:13 pm #135892Flaherty looks rusty. Not sharp at all.
August 19, 2020 at 2:13 pm #135893
stlcard25ParticipantJack isn’t all that sharp today. The Cubs have two on with one out in the 2nd. Jack at 34 pitches.
August 19, 2020 at 2:15 pm #135895
stlcard25ParticipantOk, that slider was sharp. Caratini missed it by about a foot. Seems like the Cards will only ask Flaherty to go 2.
August 19, 2020 at 2:18 pm #135897
stlcard25ParticipantBases loaded now for Happ. Gomber coming in.
August 19, 2020 at 2:20 pm #135899I don’t understand taking Flaherty out after 41 pitches? Unless trainers or Schildt saw something they didn’t like?
August 19, 2020 at 2:22 pm #135900
stlcard25ParticipantGomber makes Happ look silly and gets out of the jam. Stays 5-1, Cards.
