Shildt said that Austin Gomber will rejoin the team Monday and is a candidate to start this game. But he will not make final decision until after Game 1.

Reyes with a couple of strikeouts early, and also a couple of walks. Now another walk to load the bases.
A passed ball scores a run but the Cubs run into an out, so the Cards get out of the inning down 1-0.
Will Gomber pitch in this game or are we going to throw in the towel?
I liked Gomber in even 2-3 inning role to start. Reyes is not who I’d chosen to open the game.
Why doesn’t Flaherty ever pitch? Something is going on, as it can’t just be precaution due to the layoff. If that were the case he would be pitching at least 40-50 pitches in a start to build arm strength like Waino and Hudson.

Not likely since the last time the Cards were the home team in an away stadium anywhere was in 1906.

If it did happen, it would have been between 1892 and 1905.
