For the first time in over 600 days, the Springfield Cardinals reported to Hammons Field for their first homestead of the 2021 season, opening last Tuesday night. The long-awaited return began on a sour note as the S-Cards lost five of six to Wichita and dropped the first two at Arkansas. The pitching is in the league cellar in most major categories. Outfielder Nick Plummer has a 1.072 OPS in the early going.
