Prior to Friday night’s game, the St. Louis Cardinals activated infielder/outfielder Yairo Muñoz from the Restricted List and optioned first baseman-outfielder Rangel Ravelo to Triple-A Memphis. Muñoz missed the prior four games due to the birth of his daughter, Yarianny.
In his MLB debut stint, the 27-year old Ravelo appeared in those four games with St. Louis, going 1-for-6 with a walk and a strikeout. He was The Cardinal Nation’s May Player of the Month and was even better in June, batting .489 in 12 June contests for the Redbirds prior to his promotion.
With the return of Ravelo, Memphis will be one player over its 25-man limit, so may soon send a player down to Double-A Springfield. My guess would be 1B/C Chris Chinea, who came up to replace Ravelo.
