Jay’s doubles among all-time Cards early leaders

Jon Jay has nine two-base hits in his first 38 games, joining just 16 other St. Louis Cardinals who could say the same.

In his 38^th career MLB game on Tuesday night, outfielder Jon Jay continued his stellar play. The rookie hit two doubles, walked, scored and drove in a run, raising his average to .372.

It was his second career two-double game and the pair of doubles increased his career total to nine.

In the former stat, Jay joined nine other Cardinals hitters since 1920 with two two-double contests in their first 38 career games.

Jay became the 17^th Cardinals hitter since 1920 to collect at least nine doubles in his first 38 games. Joe “Ducky” Medwick is on top with 14 two-base hits during the earliest stages of what would become his Hall of Fame career.
