Wishing thinking on Walker’s spring training

Maybe, it’s wishful thinking. But I could see Walker having a very productive spring traing. And forcing the issue about making the team out of spring training. If he’s ready, he could really help the Cardinals in ’23. It would also enable the Cardinals management to have one of the other outfielders be an attractive trading chip.

Indeed, Shady. Answer this if you can: Name one thing that Paul Goldschmidt and Jordan Walker have in common, and another thing they could have in common come opening day?

I think Walker is the Cardinal’s starter in RF opening day.

blingboy, the only thing I can come up with is they both hit and throw righty. Please enlighten me.

Bling…The one thing Jordan Walker and Paul Goldschmidt have in common is that neither one of them has ever appeared in a WS game. One thing that they certainly do not have in common is the order in which they were chosen in the amatuer draft. Walker was chosen by the Cardinals in the 1st round in ’20, while Goldschmidt was chosen by the Dodgers in the 49th round in ’06.

The Cardinals should designate the #8 for Jordan Walker’s jersey. Like many other baseball fans, I always find nicknames for players to be appealing and seeing how Walker attended Decatur HS in Decatur, Ga. he could be called “The Eighter from Decatur”…I think that nickname will stick and stay after he makes his Big League debut on opening day by going 4 for 4 with a double and a HR for 8 TB’s and 8 RBI’s…

Both hit .306 in AA. Goldschmidt skipped AAA going from AA to MLB. Maybe they will have that in common as well.

Haha! Let’s hope, Bling. I looked all over and didn’t notice that. While doing so I was astounded to see that Goldy wasn’t chosen until the 49th round before having the good sense to attend college.
