What happened? Has there been any discussion/explanation for his alarming regression? I read an article just prior to Spring Training in the Portland Press Herald and he was very excited for the season to start and was very confident that he’ll play in the majors someday. As mentioned in the FCL review his future is in question.

One of the biggest busts in Cardinal draft history, along with guys like C.J. McElroy, Kenny Peoples-Walls, Zack Cox, Charlie Tilson, etc. Mistakes are made by every team.

Why not take a flyer on Fletcher as a pitcher? The pre-draft info on him states that he was pitcher capable of hitting up to 95 mph! Might as well try that if he can’t seem to find the handle on hitting. After all, the organization has a history of turning position players into pitchers!

Thanks, CC. Also should have mentioned Plummer.

Maybe was never required to be anywhere on time in his life and not cut out to have a job. Just a guess.

Bling, that is possible but baseball is a skill sport more só than say basketball or football. It is rare that you get by on natural ability alone, especially hitters. Usually requires a lot of hours of practice and meaningful practice requires discipline.

He was 2nd round so must have had something going for him.
