#5, was #1 for me, the last 12 months.The “reset” approach announced last winter, for 2025, and the lack of any signings besides Maton for over 12months, had the player budget in full dump mode, even reclaiming another 6.5mil at the deadline.
It’s not a feel-good story to place at #1, but it dominated my fan experience.
The cumulative effect of ’23-’25 and knowing that the success of the next 5 years (beyond 2026) is unproven and hangs in the balance between the ears of Bloom has me largely unenthusiastic.
We pretty much understand that ’26 is not going to be a good year record wise. It will be a year to grow and hopefully a year where those of us paying attention can see the growth and feel the direction of the franchise start the turn back towards sustained success.
As the ’26 season approaches some of us will fool ourselves and start to concoct scenarios where we make the playoffs this year though.
I agree with the choice for #1 being the regime change and I don’t think anything else is close. You can already see the major differences in personnel and talent evaluation. This org will look quite different in 5 years at the last year of Bloom’s original deal compared to the a year ago in the pseudo Bloom era.
#8 about the TV money problems is probably higher simply due to the impact across the sport. I am curious to see where it goes and what happens as I really don’t want games fragmented even further. It sounds like Manfred doesn’t want that, but money will likely make it happen.
#4 would be lower for me but that is because I am just tired of hearing for a year+ now about Nolan Arenado trade possibilities. I don’t want to hear anything else about him at this point unless an actual deal happens. Getting close to that with Donovan as well although I am kind of hoping Donnie stays just because I like him as a player.
