In the last 20 yrs. I wonder where the Cardinals stand as far as their average position in the draft. It seems like we have drafted as low as any team. Does anyone know the answer to this?

That’s a link to some research Derrick Goold did in 2018. It goes back several years but gives you an idea of where the Cards have drafted.

Well at the risk of stating the obvious, draft position is of course regular season record reversed. So a pretty good 20-year estimate of relative draft positions could be created by looking at each team’s regular season win total over the past two decades. Here’s the top ten.
Yankees 1,886 victories

Dodgers 1,781

Phillies 1,637I think we’re forced to conclude that the Yankees had the worst draft slots over the past 20 years. But the Cardinals could very well have had the 2nd-worst.
