Lance Lynn to the 15 day IL.

    Done for the season.

    Knee issue.

    McGreevy called up.

McGreevy has deserved Lynn’s rotation spot all September. At least he can maybe get 2 starts in the rest of the season.

No surprise there…LL’s ready to rest up his right tie rod end over the offseason in order to collect another nice payday in ’25. In my view, he was the most entertaining player watch on the entire Cardinal roster in ’24. It wouldn’t hurt at all to have a few more players like him who take to the playing field amped up to win baseball games. He’s the one and only Bavarian Bismark Beast! I hope he devours donuts all winter long before reporting for ST’ing…Haha!

And if McGreevy pans out to be half the pitcher as LL, the Redbirds will be well served.

Donovan’s two run tater put us up, now Gray threatening to give it back.

He got the DP to get out of it.

Walker has two tough chances in RF.

Apparently lost a sinking line drive in the lights and then couldn’t catch a long drive to right center over his head.

Oh, and both Ward and Marmol have been ejected by homeplate umpire DJ Rayburn regarding balls and strikes.

Libby comes on and promptly gives up an Earl Weaver special. Down 5-4 in the sixth. I see that earlier Goldy and Arenado teamed up to plate a couple. If they heat up it will make it easier to run the table.

McGreevy came on for the 7th and had a scoreless inning.

I also see Winn had a homer and another throwing error.

    17 errors for Winn.

The “offensive” SS’s around the league have committed similar numbers.

Elly De La Cruz – 28
    O’Neil Cruz – 24
    Gunnar Henderson – 24
    Jeremy Pena – 19
    Willy Adams – 18
    Tre Turner – 16
    Bobby Witt Jr – 14
    Lindor – 11
    Seager – 7

That said, Dansby Swanson has just 5 in a similar number of innings.

Of course Goldschmidt is also excellent on the receiving end so I’m sure that’s saved a few more than the average first baseman.

I see Goldschmidt didn’t want Baker to beat him in triples on the season so he tied it up. The problem though is he did it against Woodford and there’s a rule where all hits against Woodford count for one less base (singles recorded as “pitchers indifference”).

It’s difficult to believe that the Detroit, Tigers are 1.5 games closer to a post-season berth than are the Atlanta, Braves. I’m once again reminded that there’s a legitimate reason that all the teams are required to play the games.

McGreevey performed well. He gets the win after 3 quality innings. I’d like to see him get a start or two but we have a lot of starters even with Lynn out.

Happy to see some progress at the plate with Walker.

The DBs, Muts and Braves all won so we don’t gain any ground. Just keep winning.

The Buckos are in even worse shape than we are. It’s hard to read much if anything into a win against them.

White flag vs. White flag. It is what it is.
