Scruffy again. It feels to me like he’s pitching every 3rd day – I know he isn’t but…

A starter with a 5.18 ERA in September after 28 starts would not even happen on a team serious about winning. It’s fine on the Cardinals in the current BillMo era of mediocrity.

Mikolas is in 2023 Wainwright territory now. I don’t know if we could get someone to take him if we offered up his entire salary at this point.

At some point (if I’m the manager) I walk out to Scruffy and tell him, “You’re gonna get 27 outs today. I won’t be back out here. Good luck.”

Well, this one is going south faster than U-Hauls to Florida! And Jim Carey just said Mikolas is the first pitcher to give up 5 consecutive hits since 1984 (Ricky Horton, no less). Fans noticeably irritated after Arozarena’s HR. If Mikolas is in the starting lineup again next year, we can just give up 2025.

Came in from tending the grill and I see Matz is auditioning for Mikolas’s rotation slot next year.

If ownership gives a tinker’s dam about winning next season none of Matz, Mikolas, nor Lynn will be in the starting rotation. I expect that 2 of the 3 will be because that’s how the Cardinals roll.

Matz and Mikolas will be back for sure, along with Gray. We can guess about the rest.

He’s not quite there yet. You still have next year to reach those lofty goals

All I know is he won’t be taking the ball opening day next year. We’ll see how long they stick with he and Matz before the young bloods down in AAA are called next season.
