C Pedro Pages RYep, we are at a point where it does not matter much. More than wins or losses we need to assess what we may have next year. I think you play out the string with younger guys every day and get a glimpse into what they might bring, and where you might need to reinforce.
I don’t know about all that, Bikmike. I just saw a headline that proclaimed, “Herrera confident, ready to help Cards make a playoff push.”
It is a situation of conflicting goals as Marmol wants to win in order to keep his job, and the players always want to win. But there comes a point where you have to admit that things are not working this year, and how do we get things together next year.

Cards play sloppy baseball…that’s on Marmol. We were once a team lauded for our solid fundamental play. Those days are now history.
Defense-first catcher Pages already has made three bad throws in five innings tonight. They were bad enough that even the BSM boys commented on it. But, hey, the Cardinals pulled ahead.
Weird on those throws by Pages. He just can’t make an accurate throw tonight. Maybe the ball is a bit slippery with the heat and humidity. 😀
It’s no surprise that of the countless excuses offered up for failure in any and all endeavors, I’ve never once heard anyone say, “Hey, I loused it up because I was nervous”…Haha!
It could certainly be a whole lot worse. There’s still three days left before the end of August and the White Sox have lost 102 games. The ’62 Mets lost 120 which is the modern record. Something to strive for…
Nice walk off base hit by Arenado. I have to say I was expecting to be let down. It does seem like catcher is an area needing some attention this winter, with Contreras not being and every day option, and being rather fragile anyway. The other thing is we can’t keep using 4 relief pitchers so often.
