jj-cf-stlParticipant65 pitches after 4 IP.
#9, 1 & 2 due up2-0 CIN
August 13, 2024 at 6:45 pm #264108If Rat were manning the top step of the St. Louis dugout, does anyone here honestly believe that this team would not be in a better place? Our ball club is in dire need of a no nonsense skipper with a controlled maturity. We need a manager just like Rat or his old pal, Whitey
Is Rat available?
August 13, 2024 at 6:47 pm #264109We stink at driving in runs.
August 13, 2024 at 6:48 pm #264110Don’t recall a guy that swings and misses as much as Gorman on our club since we had Brandon Moss. Guys used to call him Brandon “Miss”. 😁

jj-cf-stlParticipantHey look, an x-base hit!
August 13, 2024 at 6:54 pm #264112It’s obvious that they’ve figured out how to pitch to Gorman. The problem with a repeatable optimized swing is its repeatable from the pitcher’s point of view too, and they figure out how to pitch around it.

jj-cf-stlParticipantWhen Win uses that swing he’s hard to whiff.
August 13, 2024 at 6:58 pm #264114Wow, Burly very uncharacteristically swings at a pitch that was not a strike when it left Greene’s hand. Left a runner stranded at third. Just nothing going right so far in this series.
August 13, 2024 at 7:03 pm #264115Still, its only 2 runs, if the pitching can hold them we might get that back.
August 13, 2024 at 7:10 pm #264117
jj-cf-stlParticipantFlash not fairing to well. Lineup won’t even accept a gift run. Ain’t it great?!?!
August 13, 2024 at 7:12 pm #264118Albert Pujols in his prime had a swing that seemed to be entirely identical every time he took a rip. Perfectly balanced and the hands were always the last thing that got started before the barrel traveled through the heart of the plate and to the middle of the playing field. I never saw a pitcher who came close to figuring out how to pitch around Albert’s swing while he was destroying the baseball in a Redbird uniform.

jj-cf-stlParticipantCould have PH there. Bad matchup.

jj-cf-stlParticipantArenado HR
4-1 CINAugust 13, 2024 at 7:24 pm #264121Arenado is starting his Trade Me run.
August 13, 2024 at 7:24 pm #264122Albert had a single digit K rate when he was with us. He swung where the ball was.
August 13, 2024 at 7:35 pm #264124They would probably screw Albert up somehow. Mo could screw up a junkyard.
August 13, 2024 at 7:39 pm #264126Yeah, not only was it repeatable, it was the best RH’ed rip I’ve ever seen. It was nearly identical every time he uncoiled. Albert’s swing was all hands and the hands were the last thing that got started which enabled him to barrel up the baseball in any area of the plate including when it was extremely deep in the zone. No pitcher that I ever saw learned to work around Albert Pujols’ rip when he was a Cardinal.
August 13, 2024 at 7:41 pm #264128Donovan works a walk with two outs in the ninth but Goldy rolls one to short on the first pitch to finish it.
August 13, 2024 at 7:44 pm #264129Outscored 10-2 in these first two games.
Yeah, Albert was something else. Great balance, kept the shoulder down and the hands back. Had that “Tony Perez” style where he would then throw his hands at the ball.
August 13, 2024 at 7:46 pm #264130Look at the bright side. It was over quickly.
August 13, 2024 at 7:50 pm #264132Taps is playing a bit more somber as the tail end of the season unfolds.
August 13, 2024 at 7:54 pm #264134
jj-cf-stlParticipantWith the teams we face to finish the season, we may have a top 10 pick again.
August 13, 2024 at 7:57 pm #264135Possibly, but I’m still at odds with Jnevel in the sense that I don’t think they’ll lose 25 in a row…
August 13, 2024 at 7:58 pm #264136
jj-cf-stlParticipantDon’t forget to wave goodbye to .500
August 13, 2024 at 8:03 pm #264137Yea JJ this losing is bad business. I love this team and this stuff is eating at me. Im just really dejected because I see another year of it coming in 2025 if they don’t move up their housecleaning by a year. There’s no plan here, that’s obvious by the haphazard way they do things. Just listen to Mo’s dialog when he speaks. I had a boss called their way of doing business as running by the seat of your pants.
