jj-cf-stlParticipant3 extra base hits, all by righties.
Siani with the two singles for the lefties. 2 BB for Noot (0-1) and one BB for Burly (0-3).

Bullpen hat-tipJuly 28, 2024 at 4:45 pm #261915So, we’re back to being buyers, right?
July 28, 2024 at 5:02 pm #261917Taking a gander at the late Sunday out-of-town scoreboard:
The Cubs down the Royals 7-3 at Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City.
The Brewers win over the Marlins. 6-2 Milwaukee the final at Miller Park. No word on Front Row Amy’s attendance.
Arizona leads the Pirates 2-1 in the top of the 8th at the BOB.
The Reds suffer a tough loss down in Tampa Bay. The Rays get two in the last of the 8th and win 2-1 at Tropicana Field. A wild pitch and bases load walk plated the Rays two runs in the last of the 8th.
And Bernie Sanders now drops to 4th place in the race for the White House. Front Row Amy now in 3rd place and picking up steam.

July 28, 2024 at 5:25 pm #261918A two out rbi double by Joey Bart for the Pirates ties the game in the top of the 9th. 2-2 now as the DBacks come to bat in the last of the 9th in Flagstaff.
UPDATE: Heading to the 10th inning now down in Arizona.
July 28, 2024 at 5:45 pm #261921The Pirates have jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the 10th and are still batting. Bases loaded and nobody out. Looks like this one will fall into the W column for Pittsburgh barring a minor miracle.
UPDATE: Kevin Hayes just singled to left with two outs and the bases loaded. 6-2 Pittsburgh now.
July 28, 2024 at 5:57 pm #261922Didn’t get to see it, but obviously the Goldschmidt walk-off tater was a remedy that saved the team from a really sad day in Mudville. Getting swept by the Nationals at home would have not only been a genuine humiliation, but could also have been the first few chimes of a death knell for this team. These next three games will be between two team that are playing to survive, so the Cardinals will have to play better vs. the Rangers than they did against DC.
July 28, 2024 at 6:13 pm #261923Eugene Sewers and Lourdes Gurriel both clobbered homeruns in the last of the 10th for the DBacks. But it wasn’t enough. 6-5 Pirates the final.
The Pirates now go to Houston for three. And the Braves go to Milwaukee.
July 28, 2024 at 6:16 pm #261924Eugene who?
July 28, 2024 at 6:47 pm #261928It’s the former Red, that Eugenio Suarez. I always called him Eugene Sewers.
July 28, 2024 at 7:16 pm #261935I should have known…….thanks for the clarification, Rat. As a quick aside, I’m watching Gomer Pyle episodes all night.
July 28, 2024 at 7:32 pm #261936Speaking of who’s watching what, I have tried watching the Olympics. Whatever is on regular NBC, which I can get with my antenna. Well, it is broadcast by the local NBC station, and it is wall to wall non stop politician commercials and they are all the same, what a scoundrel the other guy is. I’m done. Let me know who wins. The Olympics I mean.
July 28, 2024 at 7:45 pm #261938Yeah, the barrage of ads are bad enough, but what’s worse is that the competition itself has been nothing more than some odd sort of not so subtle political and ideological statement for some time now. The entire thing’s contained bizarre undertones going back to the 80’s and has only become progressively worse over time. Besides, none of these athletes are amatuers. They all participate either as professionals or for eventual professional gain. In my view, it’s silly and stupid.
July 28, 2024 at 7:59 pm #261940All TV and media is that way content wise TD. I haven’t heard anybody worth listening to on TV since Walter E. Williams died. But I was objecting to the absolute and relentless deluge of stupid politician ads.
July 28, 2024 at 8:08 pm #261941Well, ads or no ads, I haven’t had any interest in Olympic competition since the Spinks brothers.
July 28, 2024 at 10:07 pm #261962The joys of living in a non-swing state. We don’t get national political ads because there is no point.
And I have zero interest in the Olympics. Unfortunately my better half has a different opinion.
July 29, 2024 at 4:37 am #261972One of the joys of living abroad is I’m spared all those wretched political ads.
I’ve always wondered, how many people cast their vote on the basis of what they learn from campaign ads.
As for the Olympics, I watch a bit of track and field. They can dump the rest.

ParticipantI love the Olympics. If you get the Peacock app, for a month, they don’t have ads and you can watch any of the 4 events going on at any given time. Since I play sand volleyball and basketball, those are my go to sports.
