I will be tuning into this one. What about the rest of you posters?

I didn’t watch any of the Cubs games because, as I stated, my teams usually have better luck when I don’t watch. So if the Cards lose tonight you can blame me.

Not sure what my late night snack will consist of. Dinner was a couple of chicken thighs marinaded with Caribbean Jerk, some mashed potatoes/gravy, and a chocolate shake.

I’m sure I will catch at least half of the game. Not sure I will make it all 9 innings since it is a 8:40pm start on a work night. On the other hand I may decide what the heck this is a pennant chase so I should stay up until midnight.

Keeping your friend in thought, MM.

Interesting debate on sticking with Carpenter due to his uptick in production. Bader looks mostly like a defensive replacement at this point – sort of the antithesis of Jose Martinez. Put the two together and you have Willie Mays-light. So I would go with the Carp/Edman-in-right against righties once Wong is back.

That four-day weekend sweep was one of the more memorable series in recent Cardinal history. All by one run, no less. But it takes some fortune for that to happen, and we had it with Baez out and Rizzo hobbling. Rizzo still hit with authority, though. Then to top it off, the third guy of their big three (Bryant) goes down in the series finale.

Still to win all four, coming back in the 9th two days in a row, was something we will remember for a long time.

This one is far too late for me. Will have to catch up in the morning.
    Rah Cardinals!

MM3, I’m truly sorry about your friend.

I’ll probably watch the beginning of the game. I’m pretty interested in seeing how Goldy is received back at Chase Field. His old team could groove him a few pitches and I wouldn’t mind. Ha

How about using Edman at SS when Wong is back. Use either O’Neill or Arozarena in the OF in place of Bader.

I don’t see the lineup changing much going further unless we clinch the division early. if wong comes back before playoffs which I doubt he will, I see carpenter sitting. outside of a day here and there, shildt has stuck by the same lineup since we went on this run, cant blame him. its the way I would go. changing things up can only hurt things at this point. plus about 4 guys have been trending down for some time, goldy, ozuna, dejong, and bader with some moments here and there, some big, but still trending down. dejong and ozuna have lost about 15 to 20 points on their averages over the last couple of weeks. but in the end schildt has moved some people around but mainly has stuck with the same, and I think he would like to see them get hot going into the playoffs.

forsch, if it was the first half of the season, I might think there was a chance of your idea happening, but not now. Shildt is not going to sit DeJong and Arozarena and O’Neill are not going to start. If Wong returns, Edman will end up in RF with Fowler in CF. That way, Shildt plays the guys he has confidence in. No way will he start experimenting now.

I will be watching to completion. My Welsh Terrier will probably hang with me every pitch. I’m sure my wife will opt to sleep.

Good point stl25. We all know how old favorite Cards are received back at Busch and I would think that Goldy will receive much that same good treatment in Phoenix. Otherwise, those fans rate below Philly.

Carter I bet you didn’t know that the Cardinals are in the final year of paying part of his salary too. Not sure how much but it is over 1 million – more like 3 I think.

After the last 3 brutal years I’m enjoying the Cards again. I didn’t watch an entire game this year until last week. Hard to do when you have to listen to Cardinal announcers.

Of course I used the old trick of listening on KMOX. I have savaged Waino for the past 4 seasons for his suck and excuses. Now I’m back to lovin’ the guy and rooting again.

    Admittedly fickle.

Carter, not only are the Cards facing Leake tomorrow, the Cardinals are paying Leake to pitch against them. Anyone recall that Billy Beane and David Justice conversation in Money Ball?

Looks like the Brewers will have to face Gray and Castillo in their series with the Reds. I hope those two are on their A game and help us out a lot.

And make sure they (Reds) do NOT have a pitcher playing CF for them and getting 3-4 bats a game. Jeepers David Bell.

I will be in the couch potato audience tonight. With a couple of cigars probably. And a can of Hungry Man’s Sirloin Burger soup and a chocolate shake to help keep me up.

r/Esteemed Rat <~~~~who is going to Evansville tomorrow and then stopping at the Amish restaurant for his late lunch. No catfish fiddlers tomorrow though.

Goldy gets a nice round of applause in his first plate..and draws a walk. Ozuna advances him with a double and we are in business.

Nick Ahmed makes a Gold Glove play at SS, but Goldy scores to make it 2-0.
