It will be interesting to see how we respond in this series. The Braves are not nearly as good as the Brewers in my opinion, although Sale is still a tough customer.

If I recall correctly last year the Cards were cruising along in playoff contention until July then faceplanted and were never heard from again. I hope that isn’t happening again.

The Brewers are 25 games over .500. The Braves are “only” 16 games over and they are the third-best team in the NL.

We will see if the 2026 Cardinals can recover once the schedule gets easier again. But that isn’t starting this weekend.

Because he has spent most of his career in the AL, Sale has only faced the Cardinals twice. It wasn’t pretty for the good guys. 16 IP, 2 ER with 21 Ks.

Yes but the Braves are 14-18 since June 1 and are in danger of being overtaken by the Phillies and Marlins.

The Cardinals are 2-1 vs the Braves while they are 2-8 vs the Brewers.

Taking a gander at the meteorological conditions for tonight.

All appears clear according to the Doppler Radar about two hours before first pitch. There is a big pile of storms/rain just northwest of St. Louis but I can’t tell if it’s going to just move east and miss downtown St. Louis or perhaps move southeast. If it moves SE it could impact the game.

And of course this is another STUPID AppleTV game so I will be forced into watching the Cubs and Reds from Riverfront Stadium tonight.

And din-din today was indeed Catfish Fiddlers out at the Amish restaurant north of town on the lake.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m kind of smitten with these APPLE games. Should be a good series with the Cardinals desperately seeking Susan……don’t know where that came from?…..with the Cards desperately looking to find a way to right the ship at home and the Braves looking to exact revenge for the recent spanking that this young Redbird squad dished out to them in their park recently. For whatever reason this St. Louis team is evolving into a pretty fair road team………and unfortunately a lousy home team. It could be that when they’re on the road the young players stick together much more than when they’re at home, resulting in greater camaraderie.

Congrats to Ivan! Glad he was selected but would have thought Wetherholt or Burleson might have been ahead of him.

And as I suspected might happen the game is in a rain delay.

The big pile of green stuff moved southeast instead of east.

Milwaukee and Pittsburgh also rained out tonight at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh.

Reds lead the Cubs 1-0 at the 7th inning stretch. Elly May Clampett a dong for Cincinnati.

Based upon the Doppler Radar it’s hard to say when this one will resume. Or even if it will resume.

And the Reds down the Cubs tonight. 4-0 Cincinnati your final at Riverfront Stadium.

I guess I will tune in to the DBacks and the Doyers from Doyer Stadium here momentarily.

Dynamic and stone cold correct meteorological reports as always……you spoil us, Rat! I feasted on the Fiddlers for my din-din tonight. Two heaping plates of them with some hush puppies, deviled eggs and coleslaw. No dessert tonight, as I’m watching the ol’ waistline…….but I’m starting to weaken on that front as I hear the Breyer’s chocolate peanut butter ice cream beckoning me from the garage freezer.

I guess the game has been re-started – finally. Must have been about a 2-3 hour rain delay.

Anyway, it’s 1-0 Braves in the top of the 6th.

DBacks pounding the Doyers. The Doyers have made three errors so far. Arenado with three straight walks so far.

Giants and Rockies are 1-1 in the 7th at Candlestick Park.

    UPDATE:
Apparently there was a deluge in St. Louis. Rain/water got into the Cards dugout. The delay was 2 hours and 43 minutes.

Ballgane…..O’Brien smooth as silk in setting down the Braves 1-2-3 in the 9th for the 2-1 Cards triumph. We own these guys this year.

Yowza……Trish is quite the dish as the APPLE post game interviewer. You could see Jimmy Lee Crooks doing all he could not to stare in a certain location……if he demonstrates that kind of discipline at the plate he’ll be fine.
