July 7, 2026 at 5:43 pm #312250Zimmerman dfa’d, Shuster added to 40-man for game 2. Interesting move. Why not Mautz, who they limited to two innings in his last appearance so he could provide depth if needed? I assume Shuster gets dfa’d tomorrow and Gastelum gets added.
July 7, 2026 at 6:10 pm #312251It’s a wrap! We’re sellers. The players, coaches, management and fans have to be very proud of not only what was accomplished over the first half of the season, but also how they accomplished it. If they had not traded Sonny, a legitimate wild card run would definitely have been a possibility. Bloom has to be relieved…….about a few things. The future looks bright.
Din-din tonight was a chef salad, 3 hard boiled eggs drenched in salt and pepper and a trip on over to Popeye’s drive thru lane to snatch 3 tasty apple cinnamon pies.
July 7, 2026 at 6:45 pm #312252The only thing that really matters is which column you add a number to, but these last three L’s have been decided by a total of 4 runs. All three games could have easily be placed in the good column if not for some untimely E’s, fielding miscues and BB’s. That’s too bad. I’d have to say that, at times, it’s almost better to get trounced than to lose the type of games that are played close and tight.
July 7, 2026 at 6:51 pm #312254You just gave me an idea, Pugs. I’ve got an 18 pack of hen fruit in the fridge so I think I’ll place about 6 of them in boiling water in a bit. They’ll be ready to go tomorrow after they’re chilled. I like ’em with seasoned salt and a splash of Tobasco.
July 7, 2026 at 7:28 pm #3122594.5 That’s how many runs you need to score. We need to do it more often while allowing < 4.5. Future looks bright though. The players and org are infinitely more entertaining this year.
July 7, 2026 at 7:39 pm #312260A splash of Tabasco.
And you’ve now gave me a great idea, TD. Tobacco on hard boiled eggs sounds like a tremendous idea.
Still 1-0 Crew as we venture on to the bottom of the 4th. I figured this Milwaukee starter would have been gassed by now. ….hopefully soon.
July 7, 2026 at 8:06 pm #3122663-0 Milwaukee now.
This five game series against the Brewers is going to be the doomsday point of the 2026 season.
July 7, 2026 at 8:11 pm #312267FRANKS I put that **** on everything!
July 7, 2026 at 8:22 pm #3122693-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning now.
Cubs up in Baltimore 3-0.
Reds trail at home to Philadelphia. 3-1 Phils in the 8th and they have the bases loaded and one out. Schwarber his 31st in this one.
July 7, 2026 at 8:45 pm #312271Brewers up 8-2 now in the 7th inning.
This one is history.
At least tomorrow (Wednesday) is the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant, for din-din.
July 7, 2026 at 8:48 pm #312272Zimmerman looks a lot better than he did a couple hours ago.

ParticipantMilwaukee is def creating some distance in the division. The cards are misfiring here n there but i still feel they are for the most part competing well. People just need to give it time. See how our draft goes this year. It always takes a minute to really figure that out but im def intrigued to see what route they take.
July 7, 2026 at 10:05 pm #312274A game like this makes it easier to decide which way to go at the trade deadline.
July 7, 2026 at 10:23 pm #312275I figure next season will be like this one, home growns supplemented with low hanging fruit and dumpster dives, except next season won’t include a May. Yikes.
July 7, 2026 at 10:26 pm #312276Another tight as a banjo string close game…
July 7, 2026 at 10:34 pm #312277All jokes aside, after seeing them now for the 7th time this season, these Brewers look to be pretty good.
I certainly can’t detect any abundance of soft spots. They don’t possess the overwhelming firepower of the Dodgers, but with the arms they can throw at you, they could certainly get past almost anyone in a best of 5 or 7.July 7, 2026 at 11:50 pm #312278My guess is they left Schuster in that long because he will likely be DFA tomorrow?
I thought we were sellers no matter what. I’m pretty sure they’ll be fielding calls after the weekend on 4-5 guys.

I find it sad that you don’t believe in the organization’s plan and think the young players won’t improve. Also, a year ago, you never heard of May. There is no reason to believe someone else couldn’t take his place if he leaves. It isn’t like he is Sonny Gray! 😉

I think that was the purpose.
July 8, 2026 at 8:04 am #312297My point about May is I don’t think they will spend $12M on a pitcher next year. Some of the young players will succeed, some will peter out, that’s how it goes. If the org is successful in building a productive system, it will be a few years until that translates into enough ML talent and depth to compete with the good teams. I think most of us kind of figured on that. It will be rough for a while.
July 8, 2026 at 8:07 am #312298Brewers have taken 7 in a row and 7 of 8 off the Cards this season.
I think we only play divisional opponents 13 times a year now thanks to full interleague play so – they just won the season series if my numbers are right.
Whatever the Brewers have been doing the past few years – Cards need to copy and paste if they can figure it out
July 8, 2026 at 11:31 am #312312Both the top baseball exec (Stearns) and the manager (Counsell) who were in place at the start of the Brewers’ run have since left for more money, but the team continues to roll.

Why not? Do you expect them to cut payroll? If so, why?
Or do you think youngster(s) will be ready to step into the rotation? It hasn’t happened yet.
Then, there is the issue of rotation depth…

July 8, 2026 at 3:58 pm #312333Revenue uncertainty in 2027 and also we supplied 4 this year so 5 next year seems reasonable. We don’t know who may assert themself in the second half, or who might get hurt. I just think they will try to do without hiring an expensive starter.
