LHP Matthew Liberatore (2-2, 4.70) is pitching for StL.Here’s to hoping Front Row Amy will be in attendance for this one. She was there Friday and Saturday night for the Doyers games but not there on Sunday.

Another FYI here late Sunday afternoon.
The Cubs lost their 8th straight. 8-5 Houston the final at Wrigley on Sunday afternoon.
The Cubs now go to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Reds go to New York to face the Mets at Shea Stadium.
Let’s remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. In celebrating the unofficial start of summer today, please take a moment to pause and reflect on those who didn’t make it home.
Thank you Brian. So many have paid a sacrifice of blood so that future generations might have a better world. We owe them our gratitude and certainly our remembrance for the deeds they have done.
And speaking of the fallen, let’s take a quick look into some fallen Redbirds who were traded away to help give our team a rebirth:
Arenado: .274 BA, .819 OPS, 1.2 FWAR
Contreras: .281 BA, .898 OPS, 2.0 FWAR
Donovan: .274 BA, .834 OPS, .6 FWAR
Gray: 3.27 ERA, .7 FWARDonovan only has 101 plate appearances as he has had injury issues. Gray has only pitched in 44 innings due to the same. All are doing really well though. That batting line from Arenado is pretty incredible compared to where we thought he was now – especially when you consider he started the year off slow.
It is quite annoying to remember what Arenado was giving Cardinals fans in light of what he is obviously still capable of. Good riddance. Willson, Donovan and Gray were giving their all.
I told a buddy around Opening Day that Nolan Arenado might end up the NL Comeback Player Of The Year.
He’s off to a decent start.
And din-din today for me will be a Hungry Man’s Salisbury Steak TV dinner. Along with an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew and a bowl of Turkey Hill Homemade Vanilla ice cream. Then a couple of 5 1/2×50 Rocky Patel Anniversary cigars while we watch the Redbirds, Brewers, and Front Row Amy from Miller Park. And, yes, Whitey Herdog will be on the couch with me, coaxing a few bites from me.

I just stepped away from the grill after making some Nathan’s all beef hotdogs and some steak burgers from the local grocery. Side dishes include coleslaw, potato salad, and bbq potato chips. All washed down with a diet mountain dew. The wife made a cherry bundt cake. We don’t eat like this everyday but we like to splurge a bit on holidays.
Hopefully the Cardinal bats are ready for the Miz. Since we usually beat Skenes surely we can handle this guy right?

Liberatore gives up 3 runs in the first and throws 30 pitches. Going to be tough to come back in this one.
Nothing fancy at the table today, just a nice spaghetti bolognaise with a little green salad and iced tea. I’ll be back around the 7th inning with a little vanilla ice cream decorated with raspberries.
This alphabet soup guy is a little worrisome with all those Ks. I’d like to see more ball bashing.
Not looking good for the Redbirds as we head to the 7th down 4-1.
However, Cubs just lost their 9th game in a row. 2-1 Pirates your happy final.
Didn’t get a chance to tune in to this lackluster performance, but the box says 1 run on 2 hits and an E-2. Nothing to see here, so I think I’ll pass on the replay.

Normally ML hitters can catch up to heat, especially if they know its coming like with this guy. It wasn’t all on the black or anything. Granted, that was big league heat, but they are big league hitters. In the old days they would have choked up, shortened the swing, and tried for solid contact. I didn’t watch, or see a replay. Is there any evidence anybody tried anything after getting smoked?
Like 1TD I missed this one as we spent the day in Boulder, CO as I did my first 10K. The annual Bolder Boulder is a big deal out here, and after all these years I finally participated. Then we went to my brother-in-law’s for some grilled chicken sandwiches that included some fabulous Cole slaw topping, avocado, pickles and chips on the side.
Being a Memorial Day cookout the beverage was cold, frosty ones.
Looking at the box of our game I am glad we got and made a big day of it rather than watch that pathetic effort.

EVERYBODY wants to slug, slug, slug! If Don Kessinger was playing today he would be trying to slug it out there.
And don’t worry bling, I’ve moaned and groaned about this very same thing you mentioned a thousand times over the years. In total agreement here.
In regards to the concept of most Big League level hitters having the ability to catch up to almost any fastball if he knows it’s coming, I think it was Reggie Jackson who proclaimed, “I can catch up to a jet.” I always thought that was a really good line, but I had to bear in mind that Reggie was victimized by the K 2597 times, which is the all time record…Haha!
Coming into the season there were some diehards still thinking Gorman would do better playing every day. I hoped he would. I think we can forget it. He’s doing like last year. K% around 30, OPS+ around 90. Glove is solid. Trading somebody you don’t have a promising replacement for just tells everyone you gave up on him, so the value is all the lower. We could play Prieto there, but there is no future in that. Not that would matter. I guess best to just play him and if he gets hot towards the deadline get what we can. I’m getting sick of going to the bathroom whenever he stands in so I don’t wreck my TV.
I genuinely hope that no Cardinal hitter ever takes as much as a glance of that complex physics graph on display earlier in this thread…One look at that thing would place Cobb or Hornsby into a season long slump…Teller and Oppenheimer couldn’t solve that equation.

I look for Misiorowski to go down with an arm injury before too long. Yeah, it’s cool to throw hard and harder, but sort of like the dislike of slugging, throwing 100 on a consistent basis is not good practice.
Most guy’s cannot stay healthy by doing that. Once in a generation a Nolan Ryan might come along as an outlier, but the vast majority of pitchers are of the Jordan Hicks variety.
