And we can’t get anyone out.

That was the closest challenge I’ve seen all year on a called ball.

RP baffle me. How does someone like Svanson go from so dominant to so bad where he can’t buy an out one season to the next?

Why can’t we score any runs?

Games not over yet. We may get a run. Lol

Pitching was not great today. McGreevy velocity dip means he’ll have games like this. Oli was worried in Sacramento about hard hit balls.

Svanson seemed to miss location last season too but he was effectively wild with lots of guys swinging over the top of pitches. This season he’s still missing location but guys are either squaring him up well or getting lots of bad ball hits. I’ve never really been a Svanson fan and was quite surprised at last season’s results. I think he’s fine but he’s more just a guy than elite reliever. I do hope they can fix him though. I just think it’s time to send him down to work at it.

A little over 20 years ago I took a good friend of my late dad to a Cardinal game. He was no longer able to drive and I was more than happy to take in a ballgame with him. At any rate, the Cardinals were losing by a large margin in the visitor half of the 9th and I suggested that we head to the truck to get a jump on the traffic, but he wanted to stay and see the last out. I told him we’d listen on the truck radio and talked him into leaving the ballpark. While we were taking in the final last half inning of the game on the radio the Redbirds mounted a rally and almost came back to tie the game. He was giving me some funny looks and I was getting a bit nervous because he’d have never forgiven me had the Cardinals won that game…It was the one and only time that I’d ever been somewhat relieved that they lost…Haha!

I think it’s time to swap Fernandez for Svanson and Torres for Saggese. If Torres were right handed, that would have already happened.

At this point Svanson may need to be swapped with Ryan Fernandez at Memphis.

I’d rather bring Shuster back. Got to be some dead weight on the 40 that can be thrown away. Scares me facing Cincinnati, Milwaukee and Chicago with only 2 lefties in the pen.

What other lefty are you adding Booyah? Not many choices available.

Oh. I see you changed it to Shuster. I think Pushard is going to stick around for a bit. They committed to bringing him back up. They could send Svanson down for Shuster I guess. But it’s not like Shuster is likely to be brought in for a big moment unless they are desperate.

Well just goes to show that anything can happen on any given day. Mcbgreevy has been pretty good so i guess he was due a bad game.

Oh. I see you changed it to Shuster.

I accidentally put Pushard I think because I saw him in the box score.

I just like having 3 of them. You play some teams that can go lefty dominant in the lineup in Cincinnati, Milwaukee and Chicago Shuster can spell one or both if they are used the day before or in garbage time. We are going to need someone when Svanson gets sent down.

Pushard, Shuster, Fernandez, Svanson. That’s quite a collection and none of them come from our system. Its a head scratcher. You would think mid relief and mop up guys would be the thing easiest to churn out. The only homegrown guy in the whole pen is Graceffo, with Roycroft up and down. There are a lot of mid relief/mop up guys around MLB so they have to be coming from somewhere, just not from here.

Bling – I think we can develop mid relievers just fine. We just keep trying to hang onto them as starters. Hansen, Mautz, Hjerpe, and the previous version of Hence come to mind. We also have Liberatore, Pallante, and Leahy who began as middle relief and grew up into starting roles.

Also, Svanson is as equally home grown as Roycroft. We picked both up from another team and developed them from the lower levels on up. Graceffo is truly the only fully homegrown talent.

Agree with this and it is surprising just how bad the pitching development really was under Mo the last few years. The team couldn’t even develop middle RP and they should be able to churn them out no problem.
