Gorman with the 2 RBI bases jammed double to give the Redbirds an early lead. Keep the line movin’.
April 18, 2026 at 6:34 pm #305198Cardinal pitching has allowed several of those Charley Lindbergh taters the last couple of games. You never want to surrender HR’s, but those of the solo variety are a little less painful. Unless of course, they come off the bat of Mazeroski.
April 18, 2026 at 6:56 pm #305199Tip of the day:
Lakers missing 2 of their 3 superstars tonite vs. Durant and company. I made the biggest bet I EVER made on Houston who is only 4.5 pt. favorites! (it should be 20)Have I mentioned lately that I hate Lebron James guts?

ParticipantPallante has pitched well today. Prob done with around 85 pitches.
April 18, 2026 at 7:52 pm #305202Homers by Winn and Fermin. What next?
April 18, 2026 at 8:04 pm #305204And now Burleson yanks one to deep right.
6-1 Redbirds now.
April 18, 2026 at 8:06 pm #305205When I glanced at today’s line-up my first thought was that it didn’t look too awfully bad until I saw the Bermuda triangle black hole that occupied the 7, 8 and 9 slots. At least we got some production generated from Fermin with the solo tater. At any rate, at some point the Cardinals are going to need at least a token amount of production from the CF and LF positions
April 18, 2026 at 8:12 pm #305206Burleson annihilated that pitch from the LH’er. That fastball was a little up and in on the hands too. Not normally in a LH’ed hitter’s wheelhouse, but Alec hit it dead on the screws.
April 18, 2026 at 8:23 pm #305207Nice play from the Astros catcher to make it close. That was a picture perfect bunt from Church.
April 18, 2026 at 8:27 pm #305208Now that Astros catcher down on one knee with a runner on third couldn’t move enough to block the errant pitch and its a run for us.
April 18, 2026 at 8:29 pm #305209I’d have to entertain the idea of handing the baseball to O’Riley O’Brien to work the 9th. He’s in a nice rhythm and the last thing you want him to do is to take on any rust.
April 18, 2026 at 8:39 pm #305210Altuve’s still only 36. I’d bet a dollar that he’ll eclipse the 3000 hit plateau. I still recall watching his first game against the Cardinals and he had a really nice night with the bat.
April 18, 2026 at 8:40 pm #305211I wonder if Svanson can sell insurance.
April 18, 2026 at 8:40 pm #305212And now after three straight walks the Astros have the bases load with nobody out.
UPDATE:
Walker hits a grounder up the middle and the Redbirds turn the 643 DP.April 18, 2026 at 8:43 pm #305213Svanson really, really struggling throwing a strike. Fortunately, the Astros are swinging at a few of them.
And he does finally close out the 8th allowing only 1.
April 18, 2026 at 8:59 pm #305214He’s handed over 9 BB’s in 10.2 IP’ed. That’s a little too many.
April 18, 2026 at 9:02 pm #305215A solitary base runner and they have a chance. Here comes the Bogsider from Derry…
April 18, 2026 at 9:03 pm #305216He’s greeted with the HOF’er.

ParticipantWell soriano finally laid an egg and walks 2 and gives up a 3 run homer. Kind of lucky so far relief has been sketchy outside of graceffo.
April 18, 2026 at 9:04 pm #305218Thankfully Alverez stands in with the bases empty.
April 18, 2026 at 9:05 pm #3052191982 willie
ParticipantAltuve seems be only a pull person now. Hes so far off the plate i dont think he could hit a strike even over outer half of plate.
April 18, 2026 at 9:06 pm #3052201982 willie
ParticipantWell obrien does it. Sad we had to use him but its a win.
April 18, 2026 at 9:07 pm #305221The fastball from the Bogsider to Alverez explodes for the K to seal the W.
April 18, 2026 at 9:12 pm #305222That’s now a collective 22.1 IP’ed from the left/right punch of Romero/O’Reily without allowing a solitary ER. That’s pretty good.
April 18, 2026 at 9:14 pm #305223Every time I see the postgame I think it’s Cher.
