Gorman with the 2 RBI bases jammed double to give the Redbirds an early lead. Keep the line movin’.

Cardinal pitching has allowed several of those Charley Lindbergh taters the last couple of games. You never want to surrender HR’s, but those of the solo variety are a little less painful. Unless of course, they come off the bat of Mazeroski.

    Tip of the day:
Lakers missing 2 of their 3 superstars tonite vs. Durant and company. I made the biggest bet I EVER made on Houston who is only 4.5 pt. favorites! (it should be 20)

Have I mentioned lately that I hate Lebron James guts?

Pallante has pitched well today. Prob done with around 85 pitches.

Homers by Winn and Fermin. What next?

And now Burleson yanks one to deep right.

    6-1 Redbirds now.

When I glanced at today’s line-up my first thought was that it didn’t look too awfully bad until I saw the Bermuda triangle black hole that occupied the 7, 8 and 9 slots. At least we got some production generated from Fermin with the solo tater. At any rate, at some point the Cardinals are going to need at least a token amount of production from the CF and LF positions

Burleson annihilated that pitch from the LH’er. That fastball was a little up and in on the hands too. Not normally in a LH’ed hitter’s wheelhouse, but Alec hit it dead on the screws.

Nice play from the Astros catcher to make it close. That was a picture perfect bunt from Church.

Now that Astros catcher down on one knee with a runner on third couldn’t move enough to block the errant pitch and its a run for us.

I’d have to entertain the idea of handing the baseball to O’Riley O’Brien to work the 9th. He’s in a nice rhythm and the last thing you want him to do is to take on any rust.

Altuve’s still only 36. I’d bet a dollar that he’ll eclipse the 3000 hit plateau. I still recall watching his first game against the Cardinals and he had a really nice night with the bat.

I wonder if Svanson can sell insurance.

And now after three straight walks the Astros have the bases load with nobody out.

    UPDATE:
Walker hits a grounder up the middle and the Redbirds turn the 643 DP.

Svanson really, really struggling throwing a strike. Fortunately, the Astros are swinging at a few of them.

And he does finally close out the 8th allowing only 1.

    He’s handed over 9 BB’s in 10.2 IP’ed. That’s a little too many.

A solitary base runner and they have a chance. Here comes the Bogsider from Derry…

    He’s greeted with the HOF’er.

Well soriano finally laid an egg and walks 2 and gives up a 3 run homer. Kind of lucky so far relief has been sketchy outside of graceffo.

Thankfully Alverez stands in with the bases empty.

Altuve seems be only a pull person now. Hes so far off the plate i dont think he could hit a strike even over outer half of plate.

Well obrien does it. Sad we had to use him but its a win.

The fastball from the Bogsider to Alverez explodes for the K to seal the W.

That’s now a collective 22.1 IP’ed from the left/right punch of Romero/O’Reily without allowing a solitary ER. That’s pretty good.
