Had last practice tonight. Supposed to play opening game tomorrow but rain is forcing it to sunday. Its gonna be an interesting season. Had a 9 year old girl that was a little small and had to go down to pitching machine mainly cause parents wasnt getting her to practice. Other kid played soccer as main sport, didnt show up a lot and last time he did he was crying baby tears. Dad tried to force him and i told him not to do that, to let him play just soccer. So now down to 9 kids. Still 4 of them that never played though one is solid all around arhlete. One has adhd and is constantly looking elsewhere. I told him to throw it to the cutoff man and he throws it way closer to me then tells me after i said the cutoff, that he knew that but his mind was telling him to throw ut elsewhere. Another one we was working on communication with second or short telling the other left or right on cutoffs and she informed she didnt know her left or right. I thought i had seen it all at this age. Gonna be wild.

And another long dong by the Astros.

That makes it 4-3 Redbirds now.

Leahy’s serving up more taters than Ore-Ida. Thank goodness they’re flying out of there like Charley Lindbergh.

Sounds like you’re managing a modern day Big League team, Willie…

They should probably sign the kid up who’s an all around good athlete to something long term while they have the chance to retain control…

If Bruihl can stop giving so much to charity, he may pan out to a decent lefty in the BP. Prior to tonight’s appearance he’d allowed 8 BB’s in 9 innings of work.

I dont know. The cards are in a good position. 4-3 top 7th. Its weird. It just seems like there is way more below avg teams this year than ever before. I comsider the cards a below avg team based on talent and what ive seen, yet somehow they are winning more than they are losing because it seems everybody else is that way. May not continue that way all season but i guess we will see. I think the league is more AAAA than major league.

Now at 3 games above sea level for the Redbirds. All 5 teams in the NLC have a winning record. The Mets have now lost 9 consecutive games. And SD’s reeled off 8 W’s in row. I happened to watch a Padres/Mariners game the other night and SD looks like they want to give the Dodgers some competition in the NLW.

This should be Stanks role. Mop up in big leads or far behind.

Should be able to get a win these next 2 days. Would like solid outings from death ball boy and ML. 6 innings please.

Leahy with another poor start but at least he got to 5 which for him is a step up and the offense bailed him out.

    Leahy with another poor start

He didn’t walk anyone which is an improvement.

Actually, Leahy generally had his best start. His stuff looked crisper. He wasn’t as down the middle as normal. Yes, 3 runs isn’t good. But it’s Houston and the Crawford boxes. Two of those 3 homers may have just been outs in another park – not sure. Overall, I was pleased. Pages did a really nice job of sequencing as well to keep the Astros hitters guessing.

We might as well also hope that Soriano will emerge as a useful piece. He’s doing better than Granillo at least. That was an odd trade, but might work out.
