Now that we lost last night does this game become somewhat of an important game?

Maybe Imanaga will be rusty after his layoff and the heat will affect him too.

It won’t matter if he’s rusty or not. This team can’t hit…Haha!

Another lefty, facepalm. All I can do is hope our lefty bats can overachieve, because our righty bats have been no-shows vs lefties, recently.

It is kind of an important game. Really more important in the short run, to show we can play with anybody and take a series from the division leaders. In the long run it won’t be remembered much as it will be about how we are playing more than a game here or there.

Now if we lose, especially if we lose late, and finish one game out of post season it will loom large. But that is unknown and not a real likely scenario.

I think this game is rather significant. It could tell us how serious this team is about competing for a postseason spot. Being satisfied with a split is not going to be good enough. I’m not saying that a loss today dooms us but a victory would send a message to the Cubs and to everyone else that they are going to have to take us seriously.

After 3 IP Andres pitch count is slightly high, but he has limited the Cubs to a solo shot, showing a workable curve. 1-0 CHC

There’s the double play groundball Andre wanted to end his 4th inning, and it gets thru.
Now another gets thru. BAbip dependent w/out K’s this inning. Sacks full.
Line out to Nado, 2 down.
    Walk, 2-0 CHC
Tucker up next, of course, sacks full.
Winn runs down a 2-out grounder and you know he’s out.

That could have gotten expensive, but it’s still 2-0 CHC.
79 pitches after 4 IP for Pallante.

After getting blanked last night and 1 hit thru 4 innings in today’s game the bats are singing Paul and Arthur’s rendition of, The Sound of Silence…And I’m going to sing a chorus from Rat…This team can’t hit!

5 IP, 2 ER, 94 pitches. Busch is 2fer2 vs Andre and due up their next at bats. We are clearly “in it”, thanks Andre.

    No runs last night.

No runs today through five innings.

I keep telling everyone we can’t hit.

This lack of hitting is eventually going to catch up with us. Hopefully soon so we can be sellers at the trade deadline and restock for, hopefully, 2027.

It won’t matter if they restock or not if the restock can’t hit. And what’s worse is if they can’t hit, they can’t score. It’s become a genuine tradgedy…

I hope they are out of lefty pitchers. We need 3 outta 4 games.

After stealing a run on the basepaths, and using a third lefty pitcher, it’s 3-0 CHC after 8 innings.

After another lackluster effort following the first 2 W’s, it almost feels like the Cubbies took 3 of 4.

Righty Palencia (CHC) pitching the 9th.
    Burly doubles.
    Willson HBP.
    Nado K’s, one down, 1st & 2nd
    Saggese K’s, two down
    Gorman K

    Facepalm came true.

Well after scoring 16 runs in the first two games, this series falls apart as we end up with that same number of 16 runs for four games.

A split was at least the minimal acceptable outcome, but 3 of 4 would have been a great momentum builder.

On to Rock City. Speaking of which, I saw a game in Cleveland last year – Guards vs Tigers. Our old buddy Jack Flaherty pitched that night. It was part of a trip to the Rock ‘n Roll hall of fame and two days at the National Sports Collectors Convention. The Guardians have a great ball park and enthusiastic fan base.

Four games at home against the first place team and they were unable to make up any ground…
