First game of the second half
1:15 p.m.
RHP Andre Pallante (5-3, 4.48) vs. LHP Shota Imanaga (3-2, 2.82)
FanDuel // KMOX // WIJRJune 25, 2025 at 8:57 pm #285728Now that we lost last night does this game become somewhat of an important game?
Maybe Imanaga will be rusty after his layoff and the heat will affect him too.
June 25, 2025 at 9:23 pm #285735It won’t matter if he’s rusty or not. This team can’t hit…Haha!

jj-cf-stlParticipantAnother lefty, facepalm. All I can do is hope our lefty bats can overachieve, because our righty bats have been no-shows vs lefties, recently.
June 26, 2025 at 11:41 am #285766It is kind of an important game. Really more important in the short run, to show we can play with anybody and take a series from the division leaders. In the long run it won’t be remembered much as it will be about how we are playing more than a game here or there.
Now if we lose, especially if we lose late, and finish one game out of post season it will loom large. But that is unknown and not a real likely scenario.
June 26, 2025 at 11:51 am #285767I think this game is rather significant. It could tell us how serious this team is about competing for a postseason spot. Being satisfied with a split is not going to be good enough. I’m not saying that a loss today dooms us but a victory would send a message to the Cubs and to everyone else that they are going to have to take us seriously.
June 26, 2025 at 11:53 am #2857681. Donovan LF

jj-cf-stlParticipantGame time. Opportunity knocks. Earn it.
June 26, 2025 at 2:04 pm #285777
jj-cf-stlParticipantAfter 3 IP Andres pitch count is slightly high, but he has limited the Cubs to a solo shot, showing a workable curve. 1-0 CHC
June 26, 2025 at 2:25 pm #285778
jj-cf-stlParticipantThere’s the double play groundball Andre wanted to end his 4th inning, and it gets thru.
Now another gets thru. BAbip dependent w/out K’s this inning. Sacks full.
Line out to Nado, 2 down.
Walk, 2-0 CHC
Tucker up next, of course, sacks full.
Winn runs down a 2-out grounder and you know he’s out. That could have gotten expensive, but it’s still 2-0 CHC.
79 pitches after 4 IP for Pallante.June 26, 2025 at 2:41 pm #285779After getting blanked last night and 1 hit thru 4 innings in today’s game the bats are singing Paul and Arthur’s rendition of, The Sound of Silence…And I’m going to sing a chorus from Rat…This team can’t hit!
June 26, 2025 at 2:44 pm #285780
jj-cf-stlParticipant5 IP, 2 ER, 94 pitches. Busch is 2fer2 vs Andre and due up their next at bats. We are clearly “in it”, thanks Andre.
June 26, 2025 at 2:50 pm #285781No runs last night.
No runs today through five innings.
I keep telling everyone we can’t hit.
This lack of hitting is eventually going to catch up with us. Hopefully soon so we can be sellers at the trade deadline and restock for, hopefully, 2027.
June 26, 2025 at 2:52 pm #285782
jj-cf-stlParticipantGimme the Disturbed version, but yah, hibernating lineup Dom.
June 26, 2025 at 2:53 pm #285783It won’t matter if they restock or not if the restock can’t hit. And what’s worse is if they can’t hit, they can’t score. It’s become a genuine tradgedy…
June 26, 2025 at 2:56 pm #285784
jj-cf-stlParticipantI hope they are out of lefty pitchers. We need 3 outta 4 games.
June 26, 2025 at 2:59 pm #285785
jj-cf-stlParticipantEdit-nope, here comes another lefty. The league knows about us, they ain’t dumb.
June 26, 2025 at 3:03 pm #285786Well, at least Chimichanga’s on ice.
June 26, 2025 at 3:29 pm #285787
jj-cf-stlParticipantWas hoping we could at least get a guy to 3B….. almost
June 26, 2025 at 3:47 pm #285788
jj-cf-stlParticipantAfter stealing a run on the basepaths, and using a third lefty pitcher, it’s 3-0 CHC after 8 innings.
June 26, 2025 at 4:06 pm #285789Welp we were shutout two days in a row. No bueno.
June 26, 2025 at 4:07 pm #285790After another lackluster effort following the first 2 W’s, it almost feels like the Cubbies took 3 of 4.
June 26, 2025 at 4:08 pm #285791
jj-cf-stlParticipantRighty Palencia (CHC) pitching the 9th.
Burly doubles.
Willson HBP.
Nado K’s, one down, 1st & 2nd
Saggese K’s, two down
Gorman KFacepalm came true.
June 26, 2025 at 4:16 pm #285793Well after scoring 16 runs in the first two games, this series falls apart as we end up with that same number of 16 runs for four games.
A split was at least the minimal acceptable outcome, but 3 of 4 would have been a great momentum builder.
On to Rock City. Speaking of which, I saw a game in Cleveland last year – Guards vs Tigers. Our old buddy Jack Flaherty pitched that night. It was part of a trip to the Rock ‘n Roll hall of fame and two days at the National Sports Collectors Convention. The Guardians have a great ball park and enthusiastic fan base.
June 26, 2025 at 4:21 pm #285794Four games at home against the first place team and they were unable to make up any ground…
