RHP Sonny Gray (5-1, 4.02) vs. RHP Brandon Pfaadt (7-3, 3.81)
FanDuel // KMOX // WIJRMay 24, 2025 at 7:26 pm #283176The Cubs have had a pillow soft schedule for the past week and a half. Staying this close has been a feat.
Hopefully good Sonny takes the mound tomorrow.
May 24, 2025 at 7:55 pm #283178And starting Monday they really get put to the test with 3 at Wrigley vs. the Rockies.
May 24, 2025 at 8:31 pm #283181And starting Monday we face the Orioles at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. They are the #1 disappointment in baseball this year. I hope they don’t start their comeback at our expense next week.
May 24, 2025 at 8:47 pm #283184Yeah, they sure are. They’ve struggled to the tune of losing 17 of 20 games so far this month which has placed them in a hole that I’m reasonably certain they won’t be able to dig out of. That’s pretty bad for a team that won 91 and 101 games the previous to seasons to be insignificant a week before the month of May comes to and end.
May 24, 2025 at 10:59 pm #283189Din din today will be a ribeye steak on my little grill, a few french fries, deviled eggs, a Pepsi, and a chocolate shake for dessert. All of this commences about the same time that the famous words….”Gentlemen, Start Your Engines”…..are uttered.
Watch the first few laps of the Indy 500, switch over to the Cubs/Reds from Crosley Field, then over to Sportsman Park for the DBacks/Cards. Along with Whitey Herdog on the couch and a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars.

May 25, 2025 at 6:08 am #283192I would love to top off my weekend with a sweep of the snakes.
In preparation, din din will be a split series: For me it will be sauteed calves liver smothered in onions. For Madame CiF, who does not care for calves liver, I’ll substitute a few lamb chops and join both with sauteed new potatoes and snap beans. We’ll wash it all down with a nice Gigondas and finish off with a dish of fresh strawberries.
Rah Cardinals!
For the moment, however, I believe I’ll go downstairs and watch a bit of French Open tennis.
May 25, 2025 at 8:26 am #283195Wow, tell me both Rat and Cardinal in France aren’t living the dream. Cardinal in France with his elegant din-dins and sparkling wines in picturesque surroundings. And Rat feasting on what all normal guys relish……meat, potatoes, sweets and carbonated sodas, complete with a 7×70 Real Palma El Presidente cigar that would raise Fidel’s eyebrows in delight. Enjoying all of this in the company of his trusty partner in crime (notorious gravel thieves), Whitey HerDog. Sprinkle in some episodes of The Big Valley and The Streets of San Francisco and you’re looking at pure heaven.
We’ll see what our boys are made of today. Our opponent this weekend is drowning. Do we lift them out of harms way or do we stick the hose down their throat?
May 25, 2025 at 8:41 am #283196Just a little interesting tidbit, the Cardinals have now played the hardest schedule in baseball according to ESPN’s strength of schedule index. It doesn’t get and easier coming up as most of June is extremely tough. July and August appear much better though.
May 25, 2025 at 11:55 am #283198Rain in the area. Alot of it. Expect a delay. If not a postponement.

Can Gray settle in?May 25, 2025 at 2:03 pm #283201
jj-cf-stlParticipantWinn HR in the 3rd ties it 2-2
May 25, 2025 at 2:14 pm #283202Worked out of some trouble in the 4th.
May 25, 2025 at 2:20 pm #283203Walker close.
May 25, 2025 at 2:23 pm #283204He’s more than close. He’s been right on it lately. About got that last one out. He still can be overmatched by some pitchers with elite breaking stuff but that may always be the case.
May 25, 2025 at 2:42 pm #283205Gray gives up 3 hard hits in a row in the 6th and the D backs have their lead back.
May 25, 2025 at 2:44 pm #283206A decent start for Gray today. He technically gets a quality start.
May 25, 2025 at 2:46 pm #283207Nothing wrong with that against one of the better offenses in baseball. Now we just need our bats to come up and win it.
May 25, 2025 at 2:49 pm #283208Would be a shame to blow this one with the Cubs down 8-4 in the 7th.
Leadoff walk to Winn. Make them pay!
May 25, 2025 at 2:54 pm #283209Ivan Herrera is now tied for 2nd on the team for RBIs, but 1/3rd the PAs as most of the other guys. If a man is on base with him up, you just know Herrera will do what it takes to score them
May 25, 2025 at 2:55 pm #283210Need a 2 out hit from Nado.
8-7 reds. 3 two out runs in the 7th.
May 25, 2025 at 3:20 pm #2832114-3 Cards after a blistering Scott single that ate up Marte scoring Walker.
Jojo coming on for the 8th. Assuming we lead in a close one going to the 9th, it’s anyone’s guess who we’ll see. Graceffo? Matz? Svanson? Probably Maton
May 25, 2025 at 3:34 pm #283212Maton in to close it out with a 1 run lead
May 25, 2025 at 3:42 pm #283213Well, what do you know, he got an out.
May 25, 2025 at 3:44 pm #283214Nice play, but hit the wall at Indy. Hope he’s okay.
