So, Leahy will get the start in a bullpen game. I guess they are going to try to make him one of the five SPs for 2026?

I guess that’s ok as plan C but I hope they have a Plan A and B before they just hand him the spot.

Good luck to the Birds today, and best wishes to everybody here over the off season.

    Bling,

Are you planning a hiatus until spring training?

The only reason they are playing today’s game is because they sold tickets to it.

    Zero implications of any kind.

The end of a sad decade of Cardinal baseball.

There will be a lot of lines to read between and subliminal messaging to decipher. I imagine Brian counts on my prescient insight and next level analysis to help carry the site over the winter.

    Farewell 2025.

I hope 2026 holds better things.

In the meantime I will still be having my CCFF. That’s Cardinals Catfish Fiddler Friday out on the restaurant at the lake. Pretty much all winter.

Looking forward to off-season topics and threads.

Another season just about in the books. The third straight season that our ballclub was not successful. But then many organizations go through decodes of mediocrity. Let’s just hope that is not the case here.

Meanwhile the post season could be fun. I am especially happy to see The Mariners, Guardians, and Padres in post season and hope one or two of those advance some. Detroit as good to see as well. I would love to see the Reds get in. Quite the deal with them and the Mets dead even going into game 162.

At some point in the off season I will share the results of my computer St. Louis tournament. I play a computer sim game called “Action PC” – same basic concept as Strot-O-Matic that Rats plays. This summer I put together a 20 team tournament of the best St. Louis teams, 19 Cardinals teams and the 1922 Browns, and put a tournament together. In the off season I will put out a thread and run through the tournament as sort of an off-beat diversion. It was a blast to create and play, and I think fans will get a kick out of it.

While the end of baseball season is always kind of a sad occasion I am kind of glad this one is closing since it has been another frustrating season for the Birds. Next year may not be any better but we can at least enjoy each other’s company over the winter and dream up secnarios how Bloom and Company will turn this thing around. I like coming to this board most every day so I am sure I will be hanging around over the offseason.

Hey it would be nice to end the season by beating the Cubs. Is that too much to ask?

The ’25 edition of my favorite team won’t be anything to write home about but baseball was designed to be fun and the crew of baseball experts at TCN only serve to add to the amusement and enjoyment of my favorite game. Ay any rate, thank goodness there’s still the post-season to look forward to and I’ll certainly be watching. Thanks for all the laughs kids and Go Reds…Haha!

I wasn’t going to watch but too tired to do anything else. Looking forward to some positive vibes about the club. Hope Bloom is all that.

This comment actually made me laugh. Busch has killed the Cardinals this year to the tune of a 1.732 OPS.

Both the Reds and Mets are currently trailing in what are essentially elimination games. The Reds are down by a score of 4-2 in the 6th at MIL and the Mets trail 4-0 in the home half of the 6th at FL. Neither team seems to want any bonus baseball.

    The Reds hold the tiebreaker.

Cardinals down 2-0 with three outs remaining.

    Cards finish the year 78-84.

I guess the Mo era is officially over except for his press conference tomorrow.

His reign is over, but it will take a whole lot longer than tomorrow to wash the stank off this mess of a franchise he leaves behind.

A disappointing season ends, with scattered bits of enjoyment throughout.

My gut tells me 2026 will be more of the same, though my heart unrealistically hopes I’m wrong.

It looks like there won’t even be many new people to pick on and complain about. Zoot alors!

The Mets prove to be one of the all time choking disasters in memory and the Reds aren’t much better as they sneak into a watered down post-season field with a shameful way to qualify for bonus post-season baseball.

I get that they lost today, but even so, the Reds finished 8-3 in their last 11. So they have some momentum heading into the Wild Card round.
