I am not too optimistic about this game. When Mikolas got the start at Wrigley on July 4 there were definite fireworks alright, to the tune of him giving up 6 HR’s in 6 innings. Ouch.

At least we aren’t facing Kyle Hendricks who was notorious against us with is his Friday afternoon specials of a 2 hit shutout in a 1 hr 30 minute game.

I won’t miss watching Mikolas serving up taters.

Watching the game and kind of surprised Chip Carey and Brad Thompson are openly talking about how Arenado and Gray are probably going to agree to be traded because the team has decided to enter a complete reset and aren’t expecting to be competitive next year.

Mikolas gives up a lead off homer and trails 1-0.

Well Osuagec Mikolas just gave up another homer. Just saw Herrera, Donahue and Nado ground out at first and jog down to first.Nado actually would have been safe as the ball was dropped and picked up in time for the out. So it appears we are just there early for spring training today. Lot of people bought ticket just to see the show today I guess.

Are these guys locked in and focused? No! The very definition of going through the motions.

And Mikolas gives up another homer. 4-0 Cubs and we have 1 hit.

About time to turn this one off. Down 11–1 in the 7th. Graceffo and Roycroft both threw gas on the fire including giving up a grand slam.

Well that’s about it for me for 2025. I have to work tomorrow and Sunday I have no reason to waste the afternoon watching the bitter end. I will be waiting anxiously for Blings eulogy.

Wow…putrid game. Absolute implosion. Team has quit. I don’t know how many years on Marmol..but it’s clear his team has quit on him. This is going to take years to even attempt to fix this team. Cardinals are becoming the Pirates.

Well, that was certainly painful. I think I’ll go revive my spirits with a cold chocolate Coke.

Yeah, that was the old oxymoron, “pretty ugly’. Graceffo and Roycroft will be low down in the pecking order next Spring as far as trying to make the club, if they are even here then.

I am in Hawaii until next Wednesday, so the game was on at 8:20 out here. I was having a cup of coffee and bowl of Wheaties with bananas and blueberries watching the game. The breakfast was far more enjoyable than the game. 🙂

Yeah, funny thing. I just rediscovered it this summer in a long conversation with my grandchildren about high school in the 1950s. You know, Stan Musial, Buddy Holly, single wing football, popcicles for a nickel.

Wow, is this really what it’s come to? I recall back in the day when the New Orleans Saints were the laughing stock of the league and their fans wore paper bags over their heads. Holes were cut out for the eyes and mouths. On game days, it was a sea of “The Unknown Comics” scattered throughout the crowd……..a beautiful sight indeed.

Did they quit on him in SF? That series was this week. You know the one they took 2-3 and took game two down 7-2 in the 7th.

It could just be Mikolas was bad on the road like he’s been all season long and we got slapped around. You get starched some times. It happens!
