Late and close more often than I’d expect.

Contreras crashes number 20 a long ways.

Well contreras gives one a ride. Might be enough. Ill be honest i expected the reds to be a little better at this point of the season wuth francona managing. Offense is a big struggle for them. Cardinals struggle that way too but i expected them to. Usually the reds issues have been pitching. Their pitching isnt terrible this year mostly.

The Reds have some really good young starters Willie. But unfortunately for them, Francona doesn’t hit.

Is Alcala the arb guy we just acquired?

3 really loud pieces of contact in 3 batters thus far against Alcala. One that the hitter got just under and went to the warning track. The next was a long homer. And the most recent went just foul. Then a walk. Alcala out of the game after 1/3 inning.

JJ – Yeah – they picked him up off waivers about 3 weeks ago.

Good stuff. Really poor control. Kind of like Roycroft. Just gives us a depth BP arm.

Yea jnevel i hear ya. Just kind of odd that their hitting would go south but i guess it happens that way sometimes. Maybe im overestimating francona. Cardinals have good arms as well. Teams are prob about even on paper as they are in standings.

Coming into today, Pages has a 191 WRC+ in August. He had been best in baseball for a few weeks but he’s dropped back to 9th. That home run helps.

He has been handling inside pitches well.

Cardinals win 4-2 without striking out any Reds. Lots and lots of Reds ground balls.

Leahy save. Might as well get back to .500 since we are this close.

Good starting pitching sure is fun. Really funky play in the first but the rest was good.

Tanner Franklin started the Peoria game tonight after just one outing at Palm Beach. 2 1/3 innings, no hits, 3 K’s, 3 walks, 1 earned run. I didn’t watch any of it. Just looking at the box score.

Good win tonight. Dont really understand the bunt attempt by reds there in 9th. Dowm by 1 i see, by 2, im not giving up an out. Plus the guy obviously doesnt understand bunting with runners on base.
