ParticipantTime to do something again on offense. Blown steal of 3rd base and deloading a bases loaded no outs situation is going backwards. Better tighten back up!
August 21, 2025 at 8:39 pm #291077It looks really nice, Wooster. I’ve never been to a ST’ing, but seeing this game reminds me that I probably should have tried to arrange to take a trip down to FL to check it out while the boys were down there in Feb. and Mar. I just never got around to it.

ParticipantGreat defensive throw by Church from centerfield tags out baserunner at third for out 3. Two steps before Rays runner crosses plate. Close one!
August 21, 2025 at 8:44 pm #291080Church seems like a player with potential. He puts the ball in play and tends to end up in the middle of things. Hopefully he will be able to center it up as he gets more acclimated to ML pitching. If so, he could potentially be the kind of situational hitter we haven’t had. Somebody who can put the bat on the ball when it matters.

ParticipantHaven’t been to a gamw in Hupiter yet. We used to go to Spring Training games when they were in St Pete before Jupiter. Saw alot of our 80s Cardinals there. Really liked going ti minor leagze fames here in the evenings when all my kids were playing little league too. Something special about that glad we did it! Bet those guys are liking it there tonight. I would be!

ParticipantDefinitely Bling. I like Church so far and Sagesse too. We have some young guys coming along.Gotta be able to play small ball when you’re not loaded down with heavy hitters. Leahy just got chased throwing lollipops.Noot and Gorman showing some power tonight.

ParticipantIts a Winner! Jo Jo pitches 8th and 9th. Lotta hits tonight. Go Cardinals!
August 21, 2025 at 9:35 pm #291085Its hard to go 12-6 for a team that is under .500.
August 21, 2025 at 10:04 pm #291086You ain’t kidding. Especially when you sport an ERA well North of 4.00.
August 22, 2025 at 4:01 am #291088I used to take a week and migrate down to StPete Beach for spring training. Al Lang field was a wonderful place to watch a ballgame. That got ruined though like a lot of things. Never been to Jupiter.
August 22, 2025 at 6:27 am #291093Gray gets 5.45 runs of support per 9 this season. Compare that to Pallante’s at 3.74 and you have your answer why Gray ends up with a lot of wins.

stlcard25ParticipantAlso, Gray has basically mixed some really bad starts with a lot of good ones. For instance, he’s allowed at least 5 runs in 7 different starts, while allowing 0 or 1 run in 11 different starts.
Compare that to Pallante, mentioned above. 6 starts with at least 5 runs allowed, and only 4 starts with 0 or 1 run allowed (oddly, he has no starts with 1 run allowed so he’s either shutout or 2+ runs allowed).
You’ll collect a lot of Ws when you’re allowing 1 run or less.
