Alcala induces 3 easy fly outs. He actually looked pretty good. I liked the pitch movement.
The Brewers are now literally looking like a runaway train. The proverbial throttle’s stuck on wide open and the crank is churning out some genuine HP. I suspected they’d be a decent team, but would have never guessed they’d be this good. Sometimes all the parts work in perfect sync and the setup is perfect for a particular layout.
I had the Brewers as better than the Cubs winning the division, but yeah I didn’t expect them to be best record in baseball good and 5.5 games over the next closest team. Since picking him up, Andrew Vaughn has been smashing the ball and all their pitcher pickups are excelling as well.
Donovan is going to get a chance to be a hero again with 2 on and 1 out as the Rockies bring in their closer in the 8th.
No dice as Brendan strikes out. Up to Herrera here.
And Herrera does the same as Donovan. No runs through 8.
I just checked out the ’25 numbers for the pitchers and position players, Albert. It’s a real nice balance and they’re getting significant contributions from all across the board. No single one or two players stand out. And what’s really amazing is that they’re realizing all this success with what is essentially a 4 man rotation. At any rate, they’re a baseball team that’s doing everything right and they’ve been doing it for a long stretch.

Gormans double off the bench equaled the 20 RHB PA’s, in ONE PA. Bwahaha!This should be the most interesting off season for Cardinals’ fans in a long, long time.
The long term plan seems to be to rebuild the farm so it fills most of the ML Roster and also creates a surplus of prospects that can be used to trade for a few key players.
You would think that this would be the philosophy of almost every organization so – not really an epiphany.
I do wonder if Bloom will try to make a couple of splashy trades. I don’t think he will sign any exciting free agents due to both cost and the current roster not being ‘a player or two away’ from contending for a pennant.
We shall see.
Bloom has only four batters better than league avg, and with Willson’s NTC, only three are tradable (Herrera, Burleson, Donovan).
There is a 5th above LG avg, in Gorman, but he’s a bum relegated to the bench.
The eight remaining roster spots can’t even produce LG avg, and five of them are every day starters.
Trading away Donny, Herrera or Burly is just shuffling deck chairs, but it could happen.
