Just got a chance to tune in and I see that we’re right back in the pennant race with a 5-1 lead. Do teams still win pennants? I don’t guess flags matter. At any rate, a glance at the box says Gray worked a really nice turn but was done after only 71 pitches. Did Sonny suffer and injury, or is the Cardinal manager simply saving him for September?
Masyn looks a little odd with the balaclava along with the two bicycle chains hanging from his neck.
Maton has the sort of career numbers that I’d term confusing. This guy once had a season in which he went 6-0 with an ERA nearly 5.00 for two different teams.
Nice play by Walker in RF to end it. That could’ve been really dicey if that drive would’ve rolled to the wall.
Yeah, Walker with a nice catch to seal it. His height helped out there.
Still think Marmol could have saved some bullpen arms ahead of the day game tomorrow and Matz could have finished it. We were up 5-1 and Marmol was playing it like it was 5-4.
This game probably made for a pretty nice payday for the MLB organized gambling syndicate…I’d have to guess that the money was significantly tilted over on the Skenes side…
Walker has looked much better in the OF. Not above average by any means, but he is getting better jumps and his speed helps make up if he doesn’t take an optimal route. Gray with a good start although I’m surprised they didn’t send him out another inning since his pitch count was low.
Yeah, he played it like his favorite Teddy bear’s stuffing was at stake, but it came reasonably close to a possible 6-5 final…
I was hoping to catch some of this one in the early innings to see Gray versus Skenes. I wasn’t able to tune in until the 6th though. Matz has been looking better out of the pen. Maybe a piggy back starter type / long relief role is a good role for him.

Fair enough, but remember they had lost six of their last seven, so I sort of get it.
That game came uncomfortably close to being 7 of 8. It took a whiz-kid manager and a nice running catch by the RF’er to save it…
They won the middle leg of the battle of the cellar. The rubber match tomorrow to fall back or extend the distance from the bottom.
