    Marrero and Pagnozzi and company in the late 90s were pretty awful too.

    Atlanta thought enough of Marrero to take him in the Wainwright trade.

    I think Pages being the main catcher happened more by accident than anything else. Herrera just didn’t quite work out due to his defense and injuries.

    We didn’t sign Contreras for $87M to play 1B either. Several things contributed to Pages being the everyday catcher. Free Pozo!

    Internal choices by management provided Pages with his runway. It’s their script, and they appear willing to chase results with the “players we want to see play”.
