That’s the imaginative way of saying that its going to be a long season.Well if he said anything less than that it wouldn’t exactly help ticket sales.
Actually I think Mo believes we are good enough to snag a wild card spot, which is probably the unofficial goal.
As for Munoz I get the feeling Matheny would really like to bring him north. To make that happen Munoz would have to beat out Bader or Garcia or we would have to drop the 8 reliever idea.
Seems a horse race between Munoz and Bader at this point…with Voit and maybe Valera hanging in there…
It will probably be unexciting as both probably make the 25 man opening day and then the question will be who is sent down when we expand the bullpen…
though it coudl be argued that we start with 8 in the pen as there may be more intrigue in who makes the final bullpen…especially with Mayers and Lucas showing well

I like Munoz right now for his flex more than BAder…but i kind of want to see Munoz get every day ABs at SS in AAA
Jag, your loyalty to Valera is commendable but other than some Mo comments the first week of camp how do you get that Valera is in serious contention for a 25 man roster spot right now?
Valera is the most versatile player in camp. Plus he is a switch-hitter. If ever given a chance to play MLB, his production would go up significantly. Don’t disregard him.
However, I like Bader and Brebbia for the final spots.

• Yairo Munoz (Cardinals’ No. 12) seemingly increases his chances of landing on the Opening Day roster every day. Not only does Munoz continue to hit, with a .375/.412/.625 slash line and a pair of homers, but he can play all over the diamond, having logged innings at six positions (2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF) throughout his career.
Munoz is a very valuable player and will no doubt be in St. Louis sometime in ’18…. maybe on opening day.
Only one mistake for Flaherty, a solo homer to Jonathan Schoop. 8Ks in five innings. Offense is sorely lacking as the score ends 1-0. St. Louis is 9-9-2 for the spring.
Actually, it looks like Valera is now the second most versitile player in camp.
My question is not about potential but about production. Do you think Valera has done anything in camp that would warrant him being on the roster ahead of Garcia or Munoz? Sosa?
One of your arguments for Owings is that you consider him more of a true shortstop than Garcia. Not sure Valera checks that box (Munoz probably does).
Interesting Lane Thomas appearance in the game. I wonder if he is turning heads in minor league camp.
Well, since there had been no games or scrimmages, it would have to be impressive batting practices and drills for Thomas. He has been injured the vast majority of his Cards career to date. They got their first extended look at him during instructional camp, but again, no games or even live BP, other than coach-pitch.
