It is early in spring camp for the lineup card preparer, too. They left on the Marlins logo from yesterday and have this as a home instead of a road game!

That lineup card really takes a lot of liberties to get to the 4 regular starters minimum for a ST road game.

CC, I’m not exactly following your comment.

There is a MLB rule that states teams must have 4 regulars in the lineup for ST road games. That can include your closer. In this case, they are Martinez, Norris (closer – a liberal interpretation initself), Dejong, and ????

HR for Arozarena, opposite field RBI double by DeJong an oppo RBI single by Voit put Cards up 3-1 in T3rd. Carlos Martinez had command trouble and allowed one run in 1 1/3.

Later in the same inning, Adolis Garcia hit a long, three-run HR to LF to put Cards up 6-1.

After Helsley gave up a couple, Voit smacks a ground rule double, scoring two more, to put the Cards up 8-3, T4th.

Uneven 4th for Cards defense. Garcia lost a fly ball in the sun, Valera muffed a grounder, Jose Martinez seemed to lose track of outs and Bud Norris charged with a questionable run. 8-4 Cards.

Could we have signed Garcia under the current rules? I’m not sure how they work. I know Diaz wouldn’t have been able to.

Adolis doubles, Mejia singles and the lead runner scores on an Arozarena single to increase lead to 9-4.

Both Adolis and Diaz were old enough they did not qualify under the international cap rules.

Anybody else notice they used the Marlins’ logo instead of the Mets’ logo? Its only game 2 of Spring Training and somebody is already screwing up.

Why, yes I did notice. It was posted right above the lineup… 😉

Well that’s what I get for not reading your comment. All I read was the picture of the lineup. So do they no have a proof reader before hitting print and sending that out? That’s just sloppy office work.

With Poncedeleon not getting into yesterday’s game I figured they would get him into today’s game. It is disappointing not seeing him pitch.

Well, Poncedeleon was not listed among the scheduled pitchers either day, so it should not be that surprising. His time will come soon enough. Whenever it is, I hope for him it goes ok, as expectations are sky-high. Maybe a non-TV road game would be better (like Monday/Tuesday).

Cards even their spring record at 1-1 with a 10-5 win. Gonzalez, Woodford and Brebbia closed it out.

Can you believe that Garcia did not make the MLB Pipeline top 30 Cardinal prospect list.

It looks like Poncedeleon is going to pitch Sunday.

For a reason that only they understand, MLB excludes from their prospect ranks those Cubans who were too old to qualify under the international cap. That is why Adolis has never been on their list and never will be. It was the same with Diaz when he was coming up. None of the other national concerns do it this way.
