Brian, do you see these minor league availabilities for exhibition games as more of a reward for good camp performance or more of we want to see what this guy’s got?

Some of both, I suspect, though at this point, they are just throwing pens in minors camp, so that part would have to be more for past performance. As I understand it, the MLB side usually tells the minors side how many players and what mix they want but do not ask for names. For pitchers, it also depends on who was already on schedule to throw today.

Long HR to left for Martinez in the first put the Cards up 2-0. Weaver is firing bullets. The stadium gun says 97-98, but it was the same one that had Mayers at 99 the other night.

Weaver was very good today. He looks like he is about to blossom into a very, very good MLB pitcher.

This lineup looks to be the opening day lineup minus Carp.

DeJong blasted an 0-1 pitch deep into the LF pen to break the 3-3 tie in T8th. His second of the spring.

Wisdom doubled hard toward the LF corner and looked like he could be an insurance run, but was caught in a rundown off second with Greg Garcia pinch hitting.

Francisco Pena has gunned down two Nats trying to take second base.

Game going into the final inning with Cards up, 4-3.

Leone finishes off the 4-3 win with his third save. Cards now 7-8-2 on the spring. Reminder that the big league club is off Monday. I will be on the back fields.
