Rick Hummel both taught and kept me informed about Big League baseball for over 45 years and the only thing that surpassed his knowledge and command of the intracacies of baseball was his love of the game itself. I can’t believe he’s gone. RIP my friend.

    RIP Commish.

First Mike Shannon and now this. The Cardinals family have been dealt some blows this year.

The last few years it’s been Gibson, Brock, Sutter, Shannon, and now Hummel.

    Time marches on……..

    Sorry to hear.

And yep Rat, there’s no stopping Father Time. Can you believe it’s been over 20 years since Jack Buck’s passing? The names mentioned in this thread made their marks doing things they loved and we had the pleasure to enjoy listening, watching and reading.

Mr. Hummel was a regular part of my Cardinals experience for a very long time. That experience can’t help but be diminished by his absense. RIP.

Sad news. Praying for his family, for sure.

Man, tough one. And I think of Hummel as the “young” guy, with Bob Broeg and Bob Burnes as the old guard.

Time passes way too fast. RIP commish.
