“The Cardinals will be wearing specially designed Frozen Iguanas hats and jerseys, featuring the icy blues and vibrant greens on all 12 home Saturdays in 2026, including the opener on April 4 against the St. Lucie Mets. The uniforms will be unveiled at Fan Fest on Jan. 10th at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The Ice-Cold 12 Pack, a special package with tickets to all the Frozen Iguana games, access to exclusive events with the team, a team store discount and more are now available. Go to milb.com/palm-beach/tickets/frozen-iguanas, or call the Cardinals at 561-630-1828.”
January 6, 2026 at 8:09 pm #298786Maybe that team name would make more sense for a winter league or a hockey team, but it doesn’t sound right for a hot 95F day to see the Frozen Iguanas playing.
January 6, 2026 at 8:41 pm #298793This concept, called “Alternate Identities”, has been used for some time, just not by Palm Beach. The sponsor is a pest control company that will remove unwanted iguanas from peoples’ properties.
Alternate identity examples in Peoria include Distillers, Orange Barrels and Pork Tenderloins. Last season, Memphis was the BBQ Nachos on selected dates. They’ve also honored the old Memphis Chicks. Springfield has gone with the Cashew Chickens in recent years. Anything to see more jerseys and caps, I guess.
You can’t make this stuff up…
January 6, 2026 at 10:08 pm #298798So the pest control company freezes the iguanas? Do they un-freeze them later, like Ted Williams?
January 6, 2026 at 10:26 pm #298799I love the Springfield Cashew Chickens. The uniforms are among the coolest. Further, cashew chicken is an absolute good. It is the single best food ever and it originated as an incredibly effective weapon to fight racism during the civil rights movement. It singlehandedly convinced hillbillies to accept and appreciate foriegn cultures and set the stage for Springfield to welcome and create homes for thousands of southeast asian refugees in the late 1970’s.

January 7, 2026 at 6:14 am #298804Is that the mean Giants mascot they had to get rid of because people hated it so much?

stlcard25ParticipantI guess they really do have to explore every revenue stream…
Will The Cardinal Nation soon be sponsored by such a company?
January 7, 2026 at 8:36 am #298817No advertising here. That is why I really need subscriptions and book purchases – to keep the lights on. Nothing is free – message boards, hosting, podcasts, etc. all take money and time. Thank you to those who can help support us.
January 7, 2026 at 9:01 am #298820Speaking of nicknames, I hear the Athletics may not be called that once they move to Las Vegas. There has been an “Athletics” team since the 1800s. I hope they get it worked out and the team can retain the historical and iconic name.

ParticipantI had alrwady seen this. I love it. Sure its a marketing gimmick but it generates some interest in this particular team. Its also fun for the fans. Hopefully enough will sell that during their saturday home games they have lots of people wearing them. Personally i wouldnt mind seeing tbe cardinals do something similiar though in ways they already do with their light blue uniforms. Anything that makes going to the ballpark more fun for all is fine by me.
