    Paid - Annual

That Cepeda-Torre deal surprised me too back then, 1TD. It happened in Spring Training 1969 as I recall, and seemed real sudden. Cepeda was the team leader and sort of the heart and soul of the club, so it was a shocker.

The Cardinals ended up benefitting from the trade as Torre was better than Orlando from ‘69 through his time as a Cardinal. But it just seemed odd that they would trade him.

Turned out Cepeda, along with Felipe Alou, got to play along side both Willie Mays and Hank Aaron in their careers. Might be cool to see if you could make a lineup out of guys that were teammates of both Mays and Aaron.
