Walker and Gorman will NOT exit on Mo’s watch.

I agree but not because Mo is afraid they will be the next Arozarena. He doesn’t want to be seen as admitting that his touted next big things are just two more duds. He should off them though. Take the heat now and move on. Instead, we will be watching them flop around all year. Does anyone want to see Gorman in the batters box 500 more times? 1000 more innings of Walker in the outfield? Its cruel and unusual punishment.

Adam Dunn averaged .854 ops over his career, but that includes some lower seasons near the end of his career.
He had a good 10 or 11 year run averaging over .900 ops. That is the kind of hitter we need to contend. Not guys between .500 and .735 ops….

The auditions will now take center stage Bling. The names may change for a few years while we strive for that elusive “core”, so keep your prospect guide handy.

If Gorman is going to strike out over and over and over again, I’d like to see Donovan or Saggesse at 2B. And if Arenado gets traded, Donovan should get a realistic chance at starting at 3B.

Funny, jj. What auditions? Saggese, a possible UT. Koperniak maybe. Scott again. Thinking about it is like taking a cold shower.

What will happen is somebody will be on fire early in ST when they are facing a lot of marginal pitchers and guys not dialed in yet, like Walker did, and the Cardinals brass will start salivating and the powder puffs getting the munchers all lathered up. He’s the next this or the next that. Then the season gets underway and they have to face real pitchers and real defenses and reality sets in. So those guys don’t work and we’re back to Gorman hoping for a meatball on a tee and Walker hoping for a meatball on a tee, and then Contreras fouls one off his toe and he’s out so the lineup and defensive alignment is a three ring circus again. Ask me how I know. I must be Nostradamus.

It’s precisely why I pay less than zero attention to what happens during ST practice games. Once the regular season gets under way I become one of those naive schmucks who takes a daily peek at the standings when in reality I should ignore them until a week or so after Labor Day. As much as I hate to admit it, I’m still a silly baseball fan.

The auditioning on the pitching side is a lot more interesting to me. The top shelf guys are the sore arm squad, so we are going to have to reach deeper at some point when they do what they do and go on the IL. Who? When? Nothing at all is learned by trotting King and Leahy and Romero out there all season, but that doesn’t mean they won’t. Jack Ralston is 27. Give him a couple months in Memphis and get him up here before he qualifies for Social Security. It’s not like he’ll cost us the pennant. Get Hence up here while his arm is still attached. If its Thompson who gets the call I will throw something.
