This salary floor seems like it’s definitely going to happen.

And it’s going to affect us quite a a lot.

I’d like to see us get some early FAs that are on short term deals before the prices explode.

I saw that there is almost $600M to be exchanged from the big market to small market teams if that cap/floor goes into effect.

I love the idea of revenue sharing plus a floor to make sure the money is given to the players. With this, many more players should get to become multimillionaires, and organizations like the Pirates will be much less likely to stuff their pockets and cheat the fans by not fielding a competitive team.

The problem with what major league wants is that teams that choose not to spend dont really deserve to win. You can be smart and spend money. Lets not reward teams that underpay their employees.

    Baseball Owners Actually Make Money!!!

“A lot of my friends were buying teams, and I realized they’re making money. They’re making more money than I’m making in private equity,” Rubenstein told Baltimore Baseball.

David Rubenstein is the owner of the Baltimore Orioles.

The Owners will most always make money. That is why most of them are in the business. Before free agency and the union they were very cheap with the players.

The real losers through the years have been the fans and minor league players who are not big bonus signing players. Not only the cost of admitance and concessions have skyrocked but also the cutback in farm systems have deprived many fans of minor league team games. Not shure the contract effects the cutbackbut I hated to see it. Once the Cardinals had 32 farm teams in the Branch Rickey era.

At least now I can watch the four top levels on TV.

Yet there is no shortage of either. Its complicated.

It seems like the thing that is in motion is the evolving revenue stream. Between broadcast/streaming changes and the emergence of gaming derived revenue, the pie seems like a moving target that they all want the biggest possible slice of.
